I've finally decided, and am fairly sure that im going for a B16A2 for my EK1. This is a fairly dirrect swap isn't it, and i can use my existing engine mounts with no modification, right? ( not talking about wiring and joining things etc, just mounting it )

And i've been reading abit about hybrids lately, don't think ill go down this path but, would a B18 block require new engine mounts/ custom engine mounts ?

Hey dude i recently had a conversion done and i am loving it from d16y8 to b16a2. it is very expensive but ye worth it go for the b18c vtir motor more kw.

No you cant use your existing mounts. D series mounts are not compatible with B series mounts.

Well im purchasing a wreck/ halfcut, so im asuming that will include B series mounts.

Will the B16A2 with its mounts, bolt up straight into the current mounting locations?

And if i had a B18, that wouldnt bolt straight up would it, it requires custom mounts or something for the rear, is this correct?

Looked through this, too many others costs and things assosiated with a B18C2 engine conversion.

But i thought maybe i'll ask a few questions about a hybrid, because if im putting all this money into it, i may as well find out the answers, and get what i pay for.

even with b16a2, you will need a gearbox, ecu as well (if it doesn't come with the halfcut).

you might want to upgrade your front rotors and calipers as well

I was planning on buying an EK4 which was a writeoff, roof is smashed, front bumper/ rear pumper / driver door all smashed, but mechanical gear is all fine.
Was planning on taking everything out of that and putting into my EK1, including front rotors + calipers and rear brake assembly, and w/e else is good.

But im justwondering if i use the B series mounts, the B16A2 will just drop right into mine wont it ?

And just an additional question, if i wanted to put a B18 into my car, would that require custom mounts or would it mount straight up ?

the b16a2 or b18 will drop straight in. the hard part is the looming and gearbox linkages.

for b18 might as well use mount that is for b18. I wouldn't use mount for b16.

would b series engine mounts from a vtir fit onto a b18cr when trying to install that engine into a d series ek sedan?

if not what is the best way to fit a b series engine into a d series ek sedan?

sorry for hijacking thread

np, this question also helps me out. Because i was told i would need to modify engine mounts or something like that to make a B18 fit, but previous post says it will drop straight in....

As for shift linkages, it would just use the EK4, seeing their practically the same ( EK1 and EK4)

you can use your existing d-series mounts for your b series conversion, you just need the L bracket from an ek4...

Yes...

You can all use your RUBBER mounts from D series to B series.
BUT you must use the correct rear engine mount to suit the car the engine is going into ( IE EK or EG/DC).

If you get an EK4 halfcut... the whole engine, mounts, linkage and shafts will swap over into your EK1.

But you would be better off going with a b18. Little more torque and hp.

If you got a b18. You can use the dseries gearbox and timing belt mount, but will need an EK4 or EM1 rear L bracket. The b18 shift linkage will fit. Will need either an EK4, EM1 or Integra non-abs driveshafts.

The loom will be your biggest problem. But has been done many times, so will have no trouble finding out info.

If I got anything wrong... someone feel free to correct...

BTW- Search... you shouldn't have any problems finding info

K this explains alot more... Is the L bracket expensive, or could i make a custom bracket to suit?

Wouldnt the non-abs driveshafts be included in a front cut? If not, why do i need them? (Is it because mine is non-abs so i would need them to suit?)

And can't i purchase a custom wiring loom, making a B18 plug and play?

Can buy an L bracket from Honda for $140.

The the non-abs part was only for the Integra Driveshafts. I think its because of the size or splines. But yes, if you got a EK4 front cut... it would come with the driveshafts.

Theres more to it than a plug and play with an EK1. The EK1 ecu is a one of designed one that has 2 plugs instead of 3.

Well in this case, i would think about a B18C. People kept saying its too much hastle etc, too much time and headache, its not a dirrect fit, but if all i need is an L bracket, and some time, i'd rather that.

I'd be looking more into a B18C2 frontcut so most things should be there (so i would be okay with the shafts wouldnt i?), so for the wiring what would i have to do. Custom wiring loom, and something for the ECU ?
