Guys, I was driving home from work just now and was listening to cd.... I came to change tracks and all of a sudden it stopped playing completely. I turned it on and off.. still nothing ! it thinks for a bit then gives me an "ERR" msg on the display. Staker still works.. that is, I can take CD's in and out and change them around, but it just doesnt play them. Its doesnt even think about it. Usually I can hear the CD player workin away trying to read the track, now I get nothing ! :( just an "err" msg . I have this reallllly bad feeling that if I go to a honda dealer, they;re gonna throw away the old one and quote me like a grand for a new one. Any one had this problem b4 ? or know of a solution ? also anyone had experience with how much the new players r from honda and if I can find them second hand from somewhere ? Any advice would be very helpfull as I cant drive without my music!

do you have extended warranty or anything?
the dealers don't repair the audio units themselves, what they do is remove yours and send it to the audio unit manufacturer for a repair quotation. they'd then contact you to see if you wish to proceed with the repair.

nah no extended warrenty. I probably should have taken it out though :(
ohh well I'll make an appointment with the dealer to get a quote for repair. They'll probably charge me an arm and a leg just to look at the damn thing. Oh well such is life ! I was actually thinking of forgetting about fixing the CD player and getting an Icelink and Ipod instead. Only problem with that, is I'll have to fix the player eventually I guess if I ever decide to sell the car.

Well its been 2 weeks since my CP player died and the dealer just called me 2 days ago to say they got me a reco unit for 300 bucks. My car was booked in on sat to get it installed. Heres the thing though, yesterday when I was driving home, I hit a huge pot hole while I was taking out all the CD's in the stacker to prepare the unit to be removed by the dealer.. I had 1 CD left in there and I hit the pot hole as I was pushing the eject button. Well to my amazment the damn thing started playing the CD again ! the unit seems to be working now no probs ! after 2 weeks of being completely dead ! obviously this is a good thing, but what do I do about the dealer ? are they gonna kick up a fuss cause they already ordered a unit in and I go and cancel ? ITs not really my fault... they looked at it themself 2 weeks ago and they said it was dead. Its not my fauly it just started workin again... how do u guys think I should handel this ? just tell em straight out what happned ?

contact the dealer asap to advise them that you no longer need the unit as it has started to work again, even advise them that you can go and show them also just so they know you are not just trying to get out of it because you feel like it.
most dealers will be ok with it as they can send the unit back for a full refund so to speak and it really isn't any skin off there back anyways.
i'm sure they will be understanding towards it, i mean there is no use getting a reconditioned unit if your existing one is working again now.

Hmmm I ran a few CD's through it, and skipped tracks etc.. to make sure t all works ok... seems fine so far. But maybe ur right. Something must have stuffed it up in the first place. I think I might call honda tomorrow and explain to them what happned. Maybe they would be nice enough to hold of on the unit for a couple of weeks to see if mine dies again....

yer well if ur using unoriginal copies... could be the fact that once the disc heats up during playing...sticker,plastics peel off causing the system to jam..
mayb have cooled down since not using as regularly...hence solving problem...
i belive it happened to another member on the forums as well??
