Hey everyone just wanted a quick basic answer in regards to where everyone gets thier car serviced.

IE
Dealer/Mechanic/Perfomance workshop?
How much you pay on average?

I bought my car 2nd hand from a dealer and had to get it serviced by them to keep my warrenty. Going to get it done by a honda dealer now but just after general in

i would recommend doing the little jobs yourself but then leave the major ones to a reputable mechanic

They will rip you off if they know that you have to service with them to keep the warranty. So when you call them, ask for a quote first but don't tell them your plate number. Once you get the price and you like the numbers, book it in there and then so they don't have a chance to jack it up later.

Honda could charge around $300 for a minor service but for a major anywhere up to $700 like above depends on your K's...but yeah get your quotes first then book it!! and stay with Honda till ur warranty is up

If u have a little knowledge on cars do the service yourself or what u can!!
If u want performance...then go to a performance place and get service done there too,,,.. its good to build a relationship with a mechanic or performance joint as well

For a minor, it's usually about $250. That was the retail price in Sydney. Melb should be slightly cheaper.

The dealerships charge you $70-80/hr for labour and pay the apprentices who do all the work less than $10/hr

yeah well i do all the stuff i can reach, like spark plugs, air filter and fuel filter. I got the car serviced at a Honda dealer today and it only cost me $140.00 for oil and oilfilter change. The problem being is that i cant get under the car(No chassis stands, too low for car ramps). But it was cheaper then the previous dealer where i bought the car from. They used to charge me about $180 and they screwed up my alloy sump twice when they over-tensioned the sump plug.

do what u can urself, saves heaps of $ in the long run.

if u dont have ANY car knowledge, like i used to,

get a car manual and read up and talk to ppl in the know.

it is very easy to pick up.
