Hey guys, hoping someone can help me out with this;

Ok, so I've got a JDM B16A2 which is currently sitting in my crashed 92 model civic.

The engine was taken from a JDM SiR EG6, but i am unsure as to what the manufacture year of the donor car was!

The reason i need this is that i am looking at buying a 93 model GL and dropping all my gear in it, but if the engine is in fact from a 92 model EG6 then I am under the impression that i will not be able to legally register it!!

I still have the expired reg from the crashed civic, so I was wondering if Vic roads would have the age of the engine on record, or if there is any way of finding this out from the engine#?!

if it says b16a2 i don't think its JDM.

I thought the JDM ones just said B16A or b16B. Can't remember exactly.

Yeah, that's right, it only says B16A on it, but it is a B16A2, coz it's the 125k-watt version, sorry should have been clearer on that!

i've got a b16a2 in my del sol and its only 118 kw atfw.

if it says b16a its a b16a. if it says b16a2 its a b16a2.

AFAIK B16a = JDM

b16a2 = AUDM and some SE Asian countries.

b16a3 = USDM.

Theres a thread here on ozhonda that breaks it down very well. have a search cause at the moment i wouldn't say yours is jdm.

Dude, stick to what you know, all it says is B16A, as it is JDM, no number following.

I am merely stating that it is the second generation of JDM B16A's, being the 125kilowatt version, not the 1st gen 118kilowattm, as i thought this may clarify the build date a little better, as this is why i started this thread, not to get in stupid arguments about what motor i have, if you do not have the answer i am looking for, please go away!!

mate i'm not starting an argument with ya.

Stop sayin its a b16a2 then. otherwise people will think you've got the 118kw version ok.

Isn't the date stamped/encoded across the front of the head?
Just above the exhaust manifold?

to the original poster.. the guy was just trying to help you out. you should have phrased your post a little bit better isntead of calling it a b16a2..

Look on ur head, there should be a circle stamp showing the year date. If its from 88-90 (i think) its a gen1 JDM motor, If its from (91-95) its a gen2 motor from an eg6/eg9. Not 100% about the years.

Cheers to those who have helped me out on this thread.

Anyone else just for your information, nit picking is NOT HELPING OUT and it's not like i flamed the guy for it, I merely asked him not to clutter the thread with other rubbish, I asked a simple question, only requiring simple answers!

As i explained, it doesn't have B16A2 stamped on it, but it is the second generation, which is still cosidered to be a B16A2, whether JDM or not!!

Mate, B16A is B16A, not number at all... Doesn't matter if it's lifted from an EF or an EG. It will have B16A stamped on it and no number. Call it B16A Gen 2 or EG6/9 B16A and people will definitely know you've got a JDM motor not some USDM or AUDM spec B16A1/2/3/6... As soon as you include those numbers as a suffix on the B16A, its not JDM spec!

I never said anyone was full of shit, i merely stated that it has nothing to do with my original question!!

I accept that i should not have written B16A2 now can we move on from this!!

I don't know if I should try to throw a monkey wrench in this thread or not..... considering I've already been labeled a "noob basher" by one of our lovely mods for not understanding what the hell someone was asking.

Screw it... is it confirmed the stamped date on the head is from engine assemby date, or is it simply the date the head was cast?
