10w40 is recommended.

All depends on the condition of your engine, as it could be still good as new internally where you could use 5w30 without burning any oil between oil changes.

I use 10w30 in my beaten up EH GL sedan with 210,000kms on it and it doesnt burn oil at all.

10w30 is too thin for an old car.

use 15w40 or 10w40

since its just an A to B car the oil doesnt need to be fancy.

GTX3 15w40 or Magnetec 10w40 will do and is plenty sufficient.

Change every 5000km as you would normally do anyway and go crack open a cold one.

I bought a 2nd Gen prelude at 118,000km. Sold it at around 250,000km.

Mostly used Castrol TXT 10W-40 and no noticable oil burning.

But I would try Honda's own oil (now it's FEO - SL 10w-30) and see if there's any issues and go from there.

I disagree. It depends on the engine and whether the PCV valve is worn out. Just like new Honda engines can use 10w-40, an old engine can use 10w-30 if it is not worn out. Using 15w-40 is silly. Why sacrifice on cold start protection when you gain no extra protection over 10w-40 at operating temperature?

GTX3 tends to gum up as well. I've experienced a gummed up injector when using GTX3 over 3 years (new car)

agreed on 15 40 definately wrong choice.

still not sure between 10 30 andn 10 40. im goign to go with 10 30 and see how it goes, if it burns up too much oil then ill go to 10 40.

If you are having an oil burning problem, check the PCV valve first. If that doesn't solve the problem, do a leakdown test to confirm that it is blowby that is causing oil consumption.
