Almost finished all the mods I'm gonna do to my car.So I'm almost ready for a dynotune but firstly I just want to check to make sure that it's possible with an automatic...
My car 96 EK1 Civic sedan,Stock ECU.

Yer ofcourse its possible u just run it up using 2nd and 3rd gear. But the problem is ur got a stock ecu and u cant tune them. Save the extra pennies and get a after market ecu u cant go wrong. I recon an Autronic ecu their awesome but pretty pricey. Alright thats me. Good luck with it all

how about AFC neo or SAFC? think that will help a bit...squeeze a bit more power from the world famous D16Y4 non vtec S.O.H.C

NEO and VAFC can't alter ignition timing.

I don't want to spend big dollars but I want to get the full potential out of my bolt on mods that dyno tuning achieves...

If I bought a SAFC would they use that to tune with on a dyno?

Safc will work fine. With some tuning it'll fix up your fuel mixture and gain a bit. Really up to you, on if you think it's worth it.

Sweet.Thank U.Looks like I'll be buying one of these units then :)
I feel it's a bit of a must do as to get the full potential out of ya set up.
I want to keep the stealth look too.Can it be unplug and plugged back in easy enough?
I think I will look to making a sort of pop out compartment where the cup holder goes.So it's hidden away.

Is it worth tuning those mods. you just have i/h/e right? Just reset your ecu save your $$$.

I've reset the ECU.

I was going to get a camshaft but it looks like it may not be worth for the D16y4...I have to do a bit more research on this though.
If I did get one I would offcoarse change the Camgear, springs and retainers.

Don't think it means much but I also have:
MSD Ignition System
Fuel Pump Regulator

Depending on the camshaft there could be descent gains.

I since found out that I would have to get a custom camshaft or go for a re-grind.This is for the D16y4.Could be expensive.atm I will be getting a skunk 2 IM and 60mm TB first. Then after that maybe the AFC NEO piggy back system to tune with on the dyno.
P.S. I will still look into the camshaft though.

^OBX camshafts are cheap for SOHC.

not sure for sohc, but for the dohc vtec, each stage is an exact copy of skunk2 s1,s2,s3 at a fraction of the cost and better material.

Thanks mate
I will see if they make one compatable for the d16y4 engine.
