hey mate. i have the exact same car as your. same colour n everything, except manual. how did u get the headers so cheap? i thought headers were like $1000 or there abouts. can u get a sound clip of the sound? i have a twin loop coming too. but was just going whack that on without anything else. but since its so cheap, might look at getting a header too.

i think he bought his 2nd hand. you can pay 1000 for headers but for the expsensive makes. you could pick up say lukey or pacemakers for 250 - 300.

beeza

I bought the header 2nd hand (20,000kms) of Dave (turtleEK1),he's member on here.Done me a great deal.FEL12X sells X-force headers for around $350-$400.
I thought about a sound clip, never done it b4.I'll have to check to see if my camera has a video mode.Give me a couple of days.
FEL12X sells Hi flow cats cheap too man.Gotta have one of them.

gbang007

The place I got them installed at has mugen spec 4-1 headers for $250,(sebring mufflers at mermaid beach on the Gold coast). He should be able to post. They are black and look sweet. But that's if ya want 4-1...

4-2-1.Since it's a daily I figured I will see more benefit having this one.I rarely go for a spirited drive to see the benefits of having a 4-1.

sweet! thanks mate! i got a twinloop but i dont think its xforce. xforce has the logo on the tip doesnt it? would it sound that much different if its not a xforce twinloop. u might not know beeza but others might have had experience with this before.

Yeah I'm not sure.Yup the logo is on the tip.And Thank U,now I know I can upload video's WOOHOO!!!

FEL12X
05-10-2007, 02:35 PM
nice work man

since u already did the SRI ur self...why not just do it more and make it a CAI..put the filter in the front bar , u know its not that hard since there is a hole below where the air box used to be

for my car before i didnt have anything, just a trust panel filter, thats the only mod in the engine bay..

mine is auto too..so i never really try to go hard in that...just for the looks..

kazam
05-10-2007, 02:35 PM
what where the gains? and sound much better?

beeza
05-10-2007, 03:06 PM
I got heaps of cold air ducting in the bumper.I was going to build a box for the air filter (I still may) but got lazy with that one.I would like to try a CAI but I dont want to lose low-mid range...

I wrote in my first post "Nice and responsive now.You can feel just how much easier she's breathing now.Nice increase in power (nothing special since it's a slow ass D16y4 but nice).Sounds great too,a deep note."

Nice set up. Thinking of doing same thing.
What is the size of header's collector?
Notice on the first clip it makes 'boxer' rumble on idle :)

beeza
05-10-2007, 04:09 PM
Thanks Twing.Cheap as too :)
Collector size is 60mm.
What is a boxer rumble? That Sounds good but :)

FEL12X

it should sound the same try it out!

FEL12X
05-10-2007, 05:28 PM
hm...will sound pretty much the same but it depends on the inside material

cotton wool / steel wool / foam insert / fibre glass wool
that makes a different

even the lenght of the tip and thickness will affect the note too

i know this from helping the R&D in XFORCE twinloop
and if u look at the tip of the XFORCE twinloop
u can see the tip is very thick and got holes inside
this is becos inside the tip there is a layer of fibre glass which redues the exhaust note coming out from the barrel as well

Nice! i have the same exhaust, minus the headers, but whole catback from x-force. pretty sweet, not too loud but good sound, it was way better than my magnaflow muffler on stock catback since it was all loud and no go.

beeza
03-07-2008, 06:30 PM
Cheers mate! I still really like the sound.
You need some headers, stock headers are a big restriction :)

Dy_
03-07-2008, 08:01 PM
beeeeezza. you're running stock bpipe still correct? xforce headers 2.25, magnaflow cat 2.25", stock bpipe 2" and 2.25" twinloop?

Do you know how the exhaust shop connected the 2" to a 2.25? just wondering how hard it is to do at home?

beeza
03-07-2008, 08:52 PM
Hey Dyyyyyyyy :)
All piping is 2" in my exhaust,2" magnaflow cat and 2.25" muffler.
I'm not sure how he done it but looking at the pics,it looks like he used a small piece of piping to step it down or being that there's not to much difference between 2 and 2.25" he may have just welded the 2 together.
I haven't welded before....I'll leave that up to the pro's :)

Dy_
03-07-2008, 08:54 PM
sweeeeeeeeeeeeeet yeah im not plannign to weld myself either lol not a clue how. going to ask my uncle.

yeh... bit short on money since im only 17 this year... i asked my dad, he wouldn't agree with going with the x-force headers but something like spoon, mugen or toda, but im unsure if they made parts for the D-series motor.

Dy_
03-07-2008, 10:15 PM
aye beeeza! did you clean your headers before you put them in? if so what did you use. mine look fairly ok but abit dirty was wondering if theres anything to clean it with.

beeza
04-07-2008, 10:30 AM
I didn't clean them but I know you can clean them,I'm just not sure what with.Aaron should know,he's the cleaning expert :)

Thanks denmase. The sound of your exhaust means everything...I was real lucky that with all the bits I used I ended up getting a real nice note. It's a gamble really.

hey man....sounds really nice!!!
and did u see some water leaking to ur front lower tie bar?
could be a crack water hose near ur TB or the heater hose, better check it and fix it before over heat...

beeza
07-07-2008, 11:35 PM
Oh yeah that was a split hose of the block,I fixed that a while ago.I replaced it with a piece of silicose hose I bought from the hose fitting shop. That should do the trick :)
I didn't see that in the vid,Well Spotted!

dahon

Ah,cool. How is the Vtec economy? Is Vtec still sweet?

nope vtec sux balls
lolz srsli.. from 12v to full 16v operation @ 3000rpm...
its just like driving a brick off the line with a 1.3L engine then the 1.6L engine comes on @ 3000... you dont feel it..

so its time to saveeeeeee for another car =)

beeza
08-07-2008, 02:42 PM
Yeah,I know the feeling. My car is an auto so yeah,a brick off the line DAMMIT! I hoping a dyno tune with greddy emanage will help with that.I haven't got 6k for a b18c swap :(

Hey Beeza sorry to drag out an old thread but do you know if the high flow cat you bought off ebay is a metal core cat? I bought the same one model no. 53005M which supposedly mean 'metal' but i have my doubts because there's no 53005M model in the US, only 53005. Thanks.

Michael Andretti's famous comment after he was beaten by father Mario in a race.

"He taught me everything I know, unfortunately, not everything he knows."

Beeza, what is the diameter of the pipe inside the muffler can? Some mufflers rationalize the product range by only having a single size internal pipe across all models.

No resonator?

Nick.

PS. Love the seagull extra's in the background of the first sound clip. he, he.

beeza

Hey Nick,it's a 2" muffler,but I'll measure it up/check it out!

Oops, forgot to show the resonator. Thanks mate!

2" aswell :)
