Fun day.

Easier than taillights? Yes.
Still annoying? Yes.
Worth doing? Yes.

Getting everything off was piss easy.

Differences:
Different star key alan keys. trip to local Supercheap - $14, as my old man has them out at the other house atm.

AP1 indicator bulb and socket is a bayonet, not a wedge bulb and socket. It don't fit - too large. I had some spare wedge sockets from my tail light conversion, so I hacked those up and put them in intead. Realised I had no T-20 wedge bulbs to use. Crap. Also I discovered, the parker lights are the same, but ours are amber, and the US use clear to flash in the amber section. 1 was amber and one was clear.... Another trip to local Supercheap store.

Using a file to file down the indicator wedge bulb and socket so it'd fit. Has to be done to all AP1 to AP2 conversions. Be careful not to get the scrap filed plastic into the headlight...... it's a prick to get out...... :thumbdwn:

-------

The bumper still isn't back on. I want to make sure the HID's are aligned before doing so. That's tonights / tomorrow's job.

Overall, it looks much ****ing better than the AP1's. Will look much better with the bumper on too. Now to arrange an AP2 front and mugen lip......

On with the pictures:

Next up, is my J's Cf diffuser when it arrives...
should look a little something like this:

Then, the glass window conversion is next...... After that.... either AP2 front bar and Mugen lip or stand alone ECU. Looking at AEM 1052U atm.

I'd like to do gears, but by the time all that gets sorted, it'll be about January time, which is house buying time..... but we'll see how things go.... Few cheap S/c in the US atm... :D

Yer I got all that stuff. Made it easier to wire up. Straight plug and play, instead of ghetto rigging the AP1 ballast with 4 screws, to the AP2 ballast, with 3 screws. Highly recommend spending the extra $300 or so to get them.

I used the Ricks clear diffuser for the removal of the bumper and lights.

Other than that, like the taillights, I just winged it.

^ sweet thanks for the info.
Because i been lookin to sell my euro to get a s2000. but 2002+ models all out of budget, lookin for 2000 and 01, and i wanted the glass window instead of the plastic also. I heard there are buzzing noise in the 00 and 01 from the clutch, do u experience that or u changed yours?

ludecrs
06-10-2007, 06:19 PM
I have clutch buzz, yep. I don't mind it though. Kind of grows on you.

You can buy the replacement glass roof from ebay US for about $800 landed here in Oz.

Looking at the pictures reminds me I have to remove the black window tape around the front wind shield.

Foglights are missing since I broke one about a week or 2 ago. Decided to remove both until I replace them with new ones. Figured it'd look better. hahaha.

lude it looks sexy bro!!
Ive been too lazy to source the ap2 tail lights and headlights..
i managed to do the front+rear bar so far.. thought the front bar needed alittle modification, but it was just a direct bolt on..
when i'm bothered, i'll finish the conversion..

ludecrs-just wondering if im using the ap1 ballast and existing hardware would i need to shave or cut anything for it to fit the ap2 housing? there isnt exactly a detailed diy for the headlights on s2ki

ludecrs
18-10-2007, 11:33 PM
Ap1 ballast has 4 screws holding it in place on the AP1 headlight housing.

AP2 ballast has 3 screws holding it in place on the AP2 headlight housing.

Mouting it on, I presume would just be a matter of getting some metal stripping long enough to cover the ballast, and wrap around the underside of the housing. Then gluing the metal striping to the plastic AP2 headlight under housing section with some form of Dynagrip / Permatex glue.

Or you can save yourself alot of hassle and just buy the AP2 ballasts etc and just screw them straight in :p

doing tail lights this weekend. lol

lets hope it goes well.

ludecrs

I recommend a dremel / rotary :p

Supercheap has them at 25% off this weekend only. Something like $29.... Sold one today to a guy.

EDIT: YOu have all the bulbs and sockets required?

ludecrs
18-10-2007, 11:40 PM
I forgot to mention, I remember reading alot, the AP1 ballasts being mounted to the AP2 headlight require a slight shaving somewhere as the AP1 ballast rubs against the bumper and can cause it to crack over time...... Might have to check on s2ki.com to make extra sure.

yep. tailights came with sockets and bulbs. so i just need to shave the tabs from the looks of it and do some cutting lol

borrowing an airsaw and dremel from a mate so hopefully wont take ages to do

Diffuser is coming straight from J'a Racing JP.

Got it through Ivan. Cost was about $1200.

hey, just wondering. since im gona be using the ap1 ballast. would it just be plug and play into the ap2 housing apart from the ballast fitment?

or would i need ap2 sockets or hacking at the plugs like the tailights.

I did the ap2 tail light conversion today. wasnt too bad but i kept snapping blades for the air saw which was a bitch.

ludecrs
21-10-2007, 06:46 AM
The ballast itself it the same direct fitment to the plug at the back of the light, yes.

However, the AP2 indicator socket is much smaller than the AP1. I used some of my taillight sockets left overs and hacked them up and used them instead. They are T-20 wedge bulbs, available at any Supercheap, Repco or Autobahn store.

The parker light is the same connection socket, but a different plug. Will require "customizing" also to fit to the old wires still on your car.

oh ok. thanks for the heads up.

22-10-2007, 07:52 AM
ludecrs- with the ap2 ballasts would i also need to buy the ap2 wiring or could i use the existing ap1 wiring?

ludecrs
22-10-2007, 06:59 PM
the ballast wiring is pretty much exactly the same. Same plugs etc, so no problems there.

.::F[L]Y::.
23-10-2007, 12:03 AM
with the indicator socket. theres an alternate solution. you can use another plug from an integra LOL

so all we did was use the socket from the tailight and then used the plug from the integra. all good with that.

so yeh. once i get the ap2 ballast im gona slap the headlights on, nice and easy swap.
