hey guys im currently driving an integra dc4 (gsi), and im considering turbocharging it or doing a jap spec b18c engine conversion. not sure what to do, they are both costing me around the same price, but the turbo cost a little bit extra.
So what should i do engine swap or turbo??? any advice would be appreciated

cheers

Do both. :p

If not do B18C, then turbo later on.

lol i wish i could do both, only enough money for one of them at this time. so ur saying i should do the engine swap and then turbo later down the track?? any reason for this, what are the pros and cons.

Use B20 (more power and more torque).B18 with turbo is still faster than B20.but i think B20 only would be more than enough for daily use and some track use.i would say NO TURBO!i just dont really like turbo car.cost you too much trouble for this and that.its different if you already have turbo in your stock car like EVO/STI.

lol k20 is too crazy for me. **** this is so hard, im still right in the middle not sure which way to go... zzzzz i love the zut tuuu tuu tuu noise but im afraid the turbo setup wont last in the long run and isnt as safe as the engine swap. i know if i do the b18c conversion ill want more power.

B18c will disapoint you....
Turbo ur B18B.....
7, 8 psi will be enought to blast a vtir ITR teg of the road

Well like you said, you've only got enough money for the swap. That way, do the swap, have some fun with it for a while, save up and by that time you'll be eager to put your turbo setup on.

You don't want to just boost your current motor as you may look back and say 'I should have got the B18C'. Just do it in stages, that would be fun.

Its up to you. Just have a good think about it.

Hey guys still on the same topic, but how much does a k20 swap into a DC2 will cost all up? engine and labour cost?

just boost your current motor..
if it's still in good condition, make the most of it..

don't do a conversion..
think about resale value.. when u go to sell your car, who would want a gsi converted into a vtir, when they can buy vtir's stock (which will probably be more reliable, peace of mind)
if you do a conversion, do something different, like k20..

The question is: how long are u planning to keep your car for?

If you're not planning to keep your car for too long and u got the money to boost it now, then I would do that. But if you're keeping it for a while then i would make it worthwhile and maybe save up more for a k20 now (as per above) and then boost it later on.

I would personally go for the k20 just to be different. It will give people something to talk about. then save ur asss off for a turbo and I'm sure u wont regret that.

GOOD LUCK!

In the end its your choice obviously, and doing a K swap isnt so much of a wow factor anymore they are starting to become as common as the b18 swaps back in the day, so do what you think will benefit you and your car.

8k just for the engine is definitely not worth doing it...

When looking at outright power, your turbo'd b18b will still put out more at the wheels than a stock k20a.

nice... thats good to hear. is anyone else on ozhonda that have a turbo b18b, just curious on what numbers they are getting at the wheels. i got quoted from akmotorworks, the guys that are doing my car, said that i will see up to 100% increase in power, which will roughly give me about 130fwk. it doesnt sound like alot at all, or is this what i should expect. my goal is to get something like 160-180fwk obviosly with some additional work being done.

Will you be doing internal work? QBall's car had internal work for durability and strength and got I think 165kW atw with half throttle. http://www.ozhonda.com/forum/showthread.php?t=25025&highlight=qball+turbo

not sure at this time, gotta wait to see how the car is after it is done, and what kind of numbers its pulling.
