Type R boot would be bolted, whereas the Type S lip would most likely just be stuck on using some sort of film... so youd have to put the holes in? or try finding the boot off a wreck, hopefully with spoiler as well...

whats wrong with the Type S lip? i rekon its sexxxxy

the Type S lip spoiler and Type R wing are not attached in the same locations.

To install the Type R wing you'll need to drill 4 holes (2 either side) of your boot. From memory, there should be 4 indents visible from the underneath.

If you remove the type S lip spoiler you will be left with holes along the edge of your boot. (6 i think? the 4 middle ones are square holes. lip spoiler is held to boot via 2 screws and 4 clips I believe).

To avoid having to fill the holes you could keep the Type S lip but cut out the edges where the Type R wing would fit, sort of like having a double spoiler

My OEM Type R Spoiler Could be picked up using my pinky finger and not using much force, I estimate it weighs about 1 - 2 kg but thats a rough estimate

I saw a black Type S on the F3 freeway today with the Type R spoiler. I couldn't see any holes from the Type S spoiler - although the Type S spoiler may have still been attached, I wasn't concentrating that hard on the car (traffic @ 110km/hr means you need to watch the road), it was a lady in her ~40s or so driving - which is what weirded me out the most.

Is it possible they had it put on from the dealership? The car looked stock otherwise

has anyone here actually changed to a type r spoiler? is it possible to use the american rsx facelift boot lid and wing? (or is it just a waste of money?)

hmm... forum limit for pdf is 19.5 KB for pdf's, and the installation instruction guide i have is 807.6 KB.

the installation guide shows all the parts and tools you need and where you need to drill holes for the wing spoiler. it also shows the holes left from the lip spoiler.

if anyone wants it PM me your email address and i'll send it to you.

can we get that lip here??

you could always cut your lip around where the wing spoiler would go rather than buy a whole new lip.
