Hey guys

i have a dc2 and the Dizzy went...so i purchased a new dizzy but they did not have any B18c dizzys in stock:( ... but the guy working at the time suggested a B16a civic dizzy as he said it works exactly the same as the b18c dizzy's.. so i bought it as they had one in stock..& i needed one ASAP

When i finished installing the Dizzy i then had the Timing Gun light on the belt ready to time so i can have the marks lined up...

i could not line it up Exactly as i could not turn the Dizzy anymore as it was already on its Max tilt :( im so close to perfect but still off a tad...
The car runs but sometimes i can notice a tiny loss lack of power when Driving.
My mechanic said i was off by 2 Degrees and recommends changing distributor.

Iam thinking of just buying a B18c dizzy and selling this one...
What should i do and what might the problem be?
Thanks

I thought all DOHC VTEC dizzys are the same its just the plugs are different.

what year B16A, because it depends on if its OBD 0, I or II.

they are interchangeable but it has to be the same OBD otherwise no work

Sorry i'm not helping, but if you end up changing to a B18C dizzy, i'll buy your B16A2 one!

If the price is right... ;)

I dont know much about this specific car, but is it possible you have installed the distributor a tooth off on the intake cam or is it the variety which will only go in one way?

I have just done it myself in the past on a toyota. Pain in the arse when you spend 15 minutes frigging around wondering why you cant get the base timing right only to realise the distributor goes in more than one way e.g. many tooth.
The car in question had sidedraft carbs and was a real bitch to tune at the best of times, so ignition timing being off had me completely stumped until i realised what i did.

The 2 dizzys have different bodies but either will work fine. I would recommend you check the cam timing to make sure it hasn't jumped a tooth.

NAY: B16A2 dizzy is a 2 tooth type (1 larger tooth + 1 smaller tooth) - hence only be able to fit in 1 way.

Yeah figured that might be the case. Thats one place ruled out anyway :)
