Hey mate...

Welcome to the forum!

You can't go wrong with the coupe - I could be biased though

Apart from a squeaky rear seat, I have no complaints about the car at all. Running very smooth and it's a great package overall imo.

If I remember correctly, there was a coupe on sale in the For Sale category a while ago. A damn nice looking black one too. You might want to check it out. :)

I use BP Ultimate. I only use Synergy 8000 when the Ultimate isn't available. Ultimate seems better, but it could be a mind thing, for all I know.

hi Fly, the coupe should be a good car, but my personal preference would be the VTi-R hatch, mainly cos it comes with a sunroof, and is assembled in japan, where the coupe is assembled in the US... the coupe looks a heap better tho i reckon.

I used to run BP ultimate or synergy 8000 in my VTi-R civic and that was great.

SiR
04-08-2004, 07:49 PM
Yep, what Kit mentioned is right. Factory sunroof, better seats and assembled in Jap, but it's also an older car (96-98 ) compared to the coupe (mid 99-00), if those sorts of things matter to you.

It's a nice looking car alright

Putting out a bit of black smoke is normal when hitting [acronym:a49c46a1e2="Valve Timing and lift Electronic Control"]VTEC[/acronym:a49c46a1e2] - this applies to the ITR too. Not sure about the Lude VTi-R, though I'd imagine it to be the same. It's just cos the engine is running a little rich, that's all.

Mine's a '99 and still runs great! No problems at all since new, except for a bit of a squeak from the driver's door. I'll get Honda to check it out next time its in for service, otherwise it's damn reliable. Just keeps on going and going and going...like the Energizer bunny.

is that a common thing about the clutch making funny noises?

cheers guys.

im gettn the car checked out at hannys before i purchase it and have heard great reviews abt hannys so i guess i would trust their judgement.

From what i have researched the civic coupe doesnt seem to suffer and common problems like the FTO which is a good thing.

BTW are parts for civic coupes easy to come by??

cheers

civic coupe parts..
civic coupes r powered by b16a DOHC VTEC
there r alots of parts for B16a.and easy to come by.
and most of the mecanics like sussy, shaft,s etc etc r shared between
integra's civic (EG,EK)
so search a bit and u can see stacks of parts mate..

good luck

I just spent the last 6 weeks looking for a driveshaft for a Civic Coupe 99, and I still wasnt able to find one.. for an average car your looking at around $100 - $170 for a Civic good luck finding one below $350, and if you buy new from Honda I think the quote was $500!

I just ended up getting mine repaired... so no parts are not easily found for the same model...

My Husband repairs cars for a living, he tried just about every wrecker in Sydney and the Hotline.. these cars are like gold to wreckers atm.. no parts available for those engines..

Im still looking for a passenger airbag.. havent been able to find a single one.

Smoke at high rpm is good!

it means your car is running rich. All Honda factory ECU's are programmed to run slightly rich at WOT to prevent lean out.

about the clutch squeak, i used to get that too, but only after it rained, and it would go away after a few days. I ignored it and never caused any troubles for me.

Clutch noise? I had that problem. Usually happens when I first drive my car and then it slowly goes away. It was because my clutch was leaking I think. Because after I got my car serviced they fixed the problem and no more clutch noises :)

Search mate and you will find a lot of answers to your questions. eknine did the hard work and searched FOR you.

Average is around 20-25K km/s per year, you can work out the milage from there.

Talking about noise coming from the clutch, I've heard a squeaky noise coming from my clutch for the first time tonight...damn...
When you press the clutch, a tiny squeak can be heard...when you depress the clutch, the squeak is more audible.

Anyone had the same problem and how did you go about fixing it?

Cheers!

Problem can be fixed by spraying lube onto the clutch fork at the gearbox from the engine bay.

I own a 98 Coupe as well - and love the car. Very reliable and economical (when cruising around town). One thing I did notice is that its kinda low to the ground -even with stock suspension height hehe...
