Hey guys, Recently ive been told i wont be able to get a turbo kit for a while just due to the fact of insurance ect personal shit... So i am thinking it all over again which is real annoying but yeah. I am thinking about just going with a conversion hopefully its the most stress free way to gain some power and will make for a better turbo platform in the future. I am between 3 engines B16a H22a and B18C all have there pros, but i dont know heaps about there cons in a EJ8 any one got a suggestion? i am aiming for under 5000-5500 for the engine and install.

Is the H22a a cheaper conversion then a b18c? I dont mind sourcing parts like cams and shit but being a heavier engine would that add to my wieght problem with the EJ8?

Engine conversions are anything but stress free. Wait for the turbo kit.

A H-sereis engine doesnt weigh that much more than wat you think. ITs probably an extra 20-30kgs.

B18c7 are good motors but are pricey for what you get. Plus its way out of your budget. Your looking at easy 6k for the engine and confesion bits plus another 700-1500 or so to put it in. Where's you can do a h-series into your ej8 for like 5.5-6k with more torque and mayb some bolt-ons

man i aint installing it but i dont need engineers cert and my insurance doesnt go up as much plus a better engine i can have more support for it Ds are next to impossible for parts. I would only need compliance plates wouldnt i

u'll need an engineers cert if you get any of the engines you've listed (except for the b16a)..

10% (or 15, can't remember - if 15, then b18 should be ok) power increase = engineers cert

and make sure the person installing it is reliable, because things definitely come up..

Yeah it will probs be done by Hi-Power so no problem there. And if its not visible i wont worry to much i doubt cops will crack my engine open on a random check. But thanks for the heads up on that dude.

yeah b18c over the h22a because theres just so much more aftermarket support for the b18c

B18 ftw, personally, but if u do come upon an ek4 half cut I'd buy that, just due to the easy of swapping it over, the B16 has heaps of support in terms of aftermarket parts, and not to mention it came in the vti-r coupe anyway, less paper work to get everything rolling. Just my 2c.
