Hi,

I am based in Adelaide and thinking seriously about getting a new Honda CRV 2007 in two months. Have been researching on the total cost of CRV (Price+Dealer delivery cost + stamp duty + blah blah) for the last six months. Can someone please specify how much it can cost for a CRV excluding the options like metallic paints etc...Can someone please give some tips on how to haggle at the dealer? :D...

P.S: Mods, I have read the forum rules, searched the forum for a similar thread but couldnt find one. Please excuse if any similar thread exists. I think lots of CRV fans would love to have a general idea about the total costs involved before getting involved with those hard nut dealers...

Thanks...

general rule of thumb, the driveaway price is the RRP. of course that depends if there are other honda dealers nearby. buy towards the end of the month as well, when dealers are eager to get your sales.

I started a thread in the Noob area with a link to a website dedicated to getting the best price possible for a new car.

The website is www.carbuyingtips.com. It is aimed at the American market, but most of the tips apply here too.

Here is my story...

Bought this beauty two days ago.
So, did price research.
Spent about three weeks.
BTW I'm in Perth.
Went to all dealerships here.
Standard auto + 12 months rego, 38500 drive away price!!!
Plus I wanted a few accessories such as:
Metallic paint
Front Aero Bumper
Fog Lights
Headlight Protector
Mudguards
Slimline Door Visor Set
Cargo Area Cover
Rear bumper & bootlip protector
Rubber mat set

After haggle got lowest quote $42000
Decided to try popular reverse car auction
http://www.betterdeal.com.au
Got better price from auction $39990
Went to the dealer and said will pay $38000 right now + all accessories.
He gave me $39500. Couldn't push more.
Ok, went to another dealer and gave the same price $38000 + accs.
...Long haggle... $38500. OK.
And I've had old Corolla to trade in + $3000.

So, my final price $35500.
Good luck!

Congrats on your new ride, I assume you have collected it already?

I'm interested in the head light protectors. How are they mounted, any maintenance needed to clean any dirt/dust/vapour trapped there? Any reviews/comments on this product in general, good or bad?

I'm actually also keen on the clear bonnet protector.

Hi Guys,

Just negotiated a deal in Cairns Queensland for a 2007 CRV Sport (Manual) with the following options included:

Sparkle Grey Pearl colour
Upper and lower grilles
Front and rear Skid plates
Rubber floor mats
Headlight protectors
Door sill garnish set
Rear cargo tray
Bootlip protector

On road driveaway for $38500.
Pretty happy with the deal (and the dealer sobbed, telling me it was the deal of a lifetime of course) but does that price sound any good?
