hey all,

I know you all heard of the ep3 =]

Is it possible to move the dam gear stick to a normal position so that you arent driving a bloody truck?

He's going to be hacking up the dashboard and spending heaps of money on custom stuff trying to relocate the gearknob back down at the usual spot.

The shifter position of the EP3 is actually the optimum position. If you look at V8 supercars or the Carerra cup, the shifter are all lengthened so that they sit just next to the wheel, like in an EP3.

^ says it all there, they put it there for a reason, they've researched it and obviously agreed that thats the optimum position, wouldnt try and relocate it =/ distroying a perferctly new mint car

If you dun like it...dun buy it....honda design it for a reason...and most of the ppl dun like it until you drive it.....but after you drive it you still dun like it....then buy sth else......its not a truck.....the way the make it there just trying to make it easlier to change gear.....

Exactly what I wanted to type.

People jump to conclusions too quickly and assume things without experiencing it themselves.

The EP3 is a good track machine, I have tried and tested it on calder park. The gear sticks actually complements shifting quickly on the track. One of the best FF I have driven.

I'm with you bro.....I reckon they corner better then DC5R....especially on tight track like calder or winton....

Whilst we're on EP3's, am I the only one who thinks that sitting at 3600rpms or so is abit high whilst just doing over 100kms in sixth??

Or is it just the gearing in my car??

There is nothing wrong with it, the standard final gear ratios on the K20A on the JDM EP3 is very short, around 4.7

I even have a spoon final drive ratio of 5.1 which I have yet to fit into my EP3. If you think 3600rpm at 100km is high, how about 5.1 final drive? (approx 4k I think) hehe

Your going to hit vtec in like..... 0.38 seconds..... so be ready for poor fuel consumption:thumbsup::thumbsup:

0.38 seconds? What you mean?

Poor fuel consumption yes, but it does not matter much to me, my car isn't a daily driven transporter, it's setup for more track runs and weekend days.

I have a toyota for daily.

i sit above 3k at 100kmph in 5th gear in my lude and gears are alot longer than type R's.

i think dc2r at 100 in 5th is around 4 ish... so 3.6 id not bad mate.

btw, yeah agreed with others about ep3 shifter. its there for racing feel, i think if the boot were changed to a black leather with red stitching it would look better.

Point taken.

I wasnt really complaining about it. Just thought that for a car that has six gears with a 2nd that can hit 100km, having a sixth that could maybe sit on about 3k @ 100km wouldnt be too far fetched.

I suppose that if it is a real close ratio box, they would want to extract best out of each gear.
