Hi guys i think its my fuel pump but just want to confirm before i purchase a new one. The issue started about one year ago. My car would have a fuel cut then accelerate as per usual. But lately my car will not start the first crank of the engine i would have to turn the key twice for it to start.

Last night i was driving doing about 80km then i went to accelerate and it would not accelerate and i realise my car had turned off. I went to switch it on while it was still rolling but wouldn't turn on. I stopped on the side of the road then tried again and it started.

So i am thinking it is the fuel pump but just want to confirm it thank you in advanced.

sounds like an ICM issue to me... before you commit to buying a fuel pump you should test for both Fuel/Fuel pressure AND ignition.

First thing to do, check your main relay.

Then:

Unfortunatly it did not fix the problem. My car recently would just stall while on the freeway and everyday driving. I felt uncomfortable and unsafe. I went to start it on friday and it wouldn't start. it would crank but that was it. I then tried my auto start and what do you know it started.

I then obserevd that my dash lights weren't turning on when it was on acc. So then i figured i had a faulty ignition switch. So i replaced it in which recified the problem. Thanks to uni with increasing my fault finding skills:D

At the age that your car is at, it is not unusual for the fuel pump to go. Have you noticed that your fuel pump is whinier or louder. It is sometimes a hint that it is not well. Unless its a walbro, then it normal :)

Seriously, its not the only way to tell if a pump is shit but changing it may be a blessing in disguise.

Good luck!
