hi all,

ive had my dc5s for about 9 months now, and ever since the day i got it the gearbox has always been abit notchy. first thing i did was changed the oil but that didnt really help much. took it back to honda to let them check it out and they said there is nothing wrong with it.

if anyone can shed some light on this it would be very much appreciated.

thanks

what oil did you use....most will tell you its a waste of money unless your tracking or drving hard...but i found redline leightweight shockproof made my type r 2nd gear a bit better....but $140 or something......warranty ??

DC5 gearboxes have a couple of known problems,
DC5R main problem is nothcy 2nd gear
DC5S i believe the main problem is 3rd gear, maybe one of the DC5S guys can confirm.

new fluid generlly helps, but seems u tried that.

did u buy your car new? is your car still under warranty?

Ive had my DC5S for about a year now, and it feels notchy from 1st to 2nd.
Went back to Honda to get the fluid changed, it help for a short while but the notchyness still came back. Using Redline MTL Transmission Fluid now. Feels better and the notchyness has gone. But i only changed the fluid a few weeks ago so ill let you know if it comes back

yeah its 3rd gear that is notchy, and only once in a while 2nd gear but 3rd most frequently.

all i did was dealed with it.. cos no1 really has found anything that will fix it but i found that this only happened when the car isnt warmed up yet, after driving for like 30 mins or so, no more problems.. well thats with my car, dont know abt urs.

hope this helps lol:thumbsup:

I have a 06 Type S, gear box can be a little notchy for the first 15 minutes of driving, once drive-line warms up the problem goes..
