Hi guys n gals

I was looking to get an S2000 soon and was wondering how much normal servicing from honda usually costs?

Are there any major services around the 80-110k's region? What needs to be done and how much does it cost?

Thanks

$600's the ball park figure for a major service, though if you need brake pads etc then your looking at around $1500+
Change engine oil
Change oil filter
Change sump plug
replace spark plugs
top up all fluids

80,000km is the major service

there is no timing belt in the s2k

Very expensive

I bought almost everything Motul fluids and changed all fluids under $300.

u forgot that differential fluid is also changed in the 40km and 80km service

that adds some cost also

i was told around $3300 including labour

but they changed everything

if u just change the tensioner then u can do it at home and the part alone costs around $250

Dont foget the fuel filter which is in tank and a bitch to get to, valve adustments etc.

if you think $600 is dear for a service then you guys are queit tight and I think that your forgetting it is a $75,000 car.

That's a fair few mods if that's what's on your car.I've just got myself an AP1 which is stock at the moment but thinking of doing some enhancements. Just wondering what your experience has been with the various bits.Thanks.

Thats only a short list, i ran out of charaters in my sig. lol. Ive done a bit of engine work too.

In my experience its heaps of fun and really expensive. Out of all the parts ive bought ive been extreamly satisfied with every one. I put alot of thought and research into each bit before i spent the $$$ so i wouldnt be disapointed, i pretty much knew what id get out of each part before i bought it.

If u want a fun NA car with good response, smooth power band and somthing that takes a bit of effort to squeeze Kw's out of, go for it. If u want Evo or STI performance, either sell the car or slap on a turbo.

Didn't mention but the cars in our stable are:

R34 GTR V SPec, 255ATAW
Ver3 STi Type R fully modded for track use, just over 200ATAW, weighs less than the S2000!!.
S2000 AP1 (just got it, purely for the NA high-revving engine)
Ver3 WRX Hatch Clubspec
BMW 118i MSport
Suzuki Ignis Sport

So with the S2000, it'll be just minor mods to improve the driveability and get that great intake sound from the Vtec. And ofcourse the roof down is an added bonus!!

It was the 03 STi before the GTR. "BlueBeast' was the forum name I acquired on the WRX forums and haven't bothered to change it.

do things tend to fall apart for the s2000 after 10,000km? since it has a high revving engine?

I shouldn't think so unless you're going to be regularly revving it to beyong 9000!! Hondas made the engine based on their F1 experience and meant to take the high revs.
This is no Holden engine!!

DO you really think a company like honda, or any car company, would build a car that sells for 80K, that starts to fall apart after only 10,000 kms??? Bikes rev a hell of a lot higher and they last just fine.

sh!t lol i meant 100,000km
because all the 2nd hand s2k 100,000km, their price is so much more affordable.

WhiteAP1

We'll 100,000km is really a milestone for any car. They're just a little older, and i guess that equals more wear and tear. There are still a few examples out there with less kms going for more money. Going by that most ppl just price accordingly. It also depends on colour and individual condition. I mean if was going to sell mine id aim as close to $40K as possible, keeping in mind its white, done less that 70,000Kms, service history and plenty of mods.

It depends on the overall car not just the kms, but the higher the kms, the lower the price, just like any car. Doesnt always mean it will fall apart on you.

I purchased mine at 100k took it for a trip around Tas, had to replace clutch. My garage got flooded had to replace a wheel hub. My radiator got a leak and replaced the seals. Took to the track and replaced 4 tires with race tires. No engine problems.
