Hi All!

Yet another happy Injen CAI customer. I just came back from TODA Racing and I cannot thank them enough for the great work they did today.

I was so happy to see the before (completely stock) and after dyno runs for my DC5S. Getting 11kW  at the wheels just with Injen CAI is an awesome achievement,

I scanned and posted the Dyno results below :honda:

Regards,
Sus

Thanks mate, just the Injen bolt on, no other tuning was done.

In 6+ months time I will be back for the full exhaust kit they have

Get the GruppeM.
Then you dont need to remove. and it sounds heaps better.

but id rather save like 500 bux and remove one of the foggies. i reckon it'll look tough wit jus one foggie, what do yous reckon?

I dont like the injen, hard to remove and clean. Its not in an inclosure = posible defect. I now of people that got it wet and it took ages to get the car running well.

Well you only have to clean it once a year or so, and its worth the kW gain imho :)

If you can find a carbon duct to put in it's place like J's Racing (for JDM DC2 aka BADHBT) it'd look good.

injen is bang for your buck
use to have one but changed to a gruppem

if you got the cash or can pick one up for cheap
then gruppem FTW!

wots the power difference between the gruppe m vs injen???

01-11-2007, 11:56 AM
u can't compare the intakes via a dyno.. gruppem is known not to show figures on a dyno.. as it drives into the air and without driving into air.. it wont show u the correct info on sheet

ive had a typhoon, injen previsouly and gruppm > all other intakes ;D

although im thinking getting rid of it and going itbs! but my pocket is empty

Mattski_VTIR

When my car was tuned, i was told that the Gruppe-m's aren't a dyno friendly intake and are harder to tune, the injen will show better results on the dyno! Dyno's don't show throttle response etc..

You will have to remove your strut brase in order to fit a DC5R (preFace lift) Gruppe-m on a Type S (facelifted model)

iversonruls
05-11-2007, 10:22 AM
then can i put a aftermarket strut brace on to it?

Mattski_VTIR
05-11-2007, 10:23 AM
Yes, as long as its designed to clear the gruppe-m! Some dont some do, ask the place u plan to buy it from

Sorry to hijack and bring up an old thread but it's better than starting a new one where people tell me to search. Phew! Now that that's out of the way, I am looking at getting an intake for my DC5S and had my eye on the GruppeM. Are there any other mods I need to do to fit it besides the removal of my strut brace? Any cutting or changing thing's around?

No mods required at all. Just need to Remove original cowl install GruppeM cowl and the intake just sits ontop of the strut bar, just make sure you get the GruppeM model for Type S and it will fit perfectly.

there use to be 2, but now they made the one that fits both, i think its just the Facelift one that fits on the prefacelift as well.

Facelift (Type S in Australia) has a thicker better stock strut brace with more mount points if that what you call it. So it sits on different angle to its predecessor.

hey guys ive been reading and nothing really answered my question. my car had a gruppe m and been running a stock air intake. (DC5R btw) ppl have told me that the injen gives best power out puts. but then ppl say mugen or gruppe m.
so my question is. not including the price.
what is better. injen-gruppe m- mugen?
based on power out put and performance. and throttle response.
and stats or experiences would be helpfull

2002 TeGgY
27-07-2008, 03:54 PM
based on top-end power, injen is the best. Best throttle response i heard gruppem is good. I ended up buying the injen and i reckon throttle response is better than stock and topend power is really good. Injen ftw

Previously ran Injen CAI, now have Gruppe M.
Bang for buck Injen for sure. Also, I still prefer the sound of the Injen over the Gruppe M. Honestly didnt feel any loss in bottom end with the CAI. Injen leaves a hollow engine bay though :(
End of day go with what u can afford, really doesnt make too much power difference on NA cars...

Put some foam tape around the strut-brace were the intake touches, also if u can run a small piece on the inside of the metal o-clamp that holds the carbon fiber piece to the metal plate. Also doesn't hurt to run plenty around the windscreen wiper cowling. Abit of trial and error with this and u will fix your squeaks.

Nepolian
05-08-2008, 09:59 AM
^^Agreed, Place the double sided tape around the top and bottom of cowling. Run a length along the air filter side where it sits on the cowing and get stiffer engine mounts or inserts to further reduce movement.

BTW you dont have to remove the double sided tape on the open side. Just acts as a buffer :)

LEGENDS!!! did it this arvo and no more squeaking sounds coming from the intake anymore  Thanks
