EJ8 - EK Coupe whats the differance

Hi just had a skim through my cars owner manual and it says its a ek. but when i look at rego its says its a ej. Just wanting to know what the difference's are. please school me apart from the headlights and gaurds is there any real difference. The cars build date is dec 07' it has a d16ya sohc v-tec engine.

EK coupe is an EM1
EM1 is dohc vtec
EJ8 is sohc vtec

EM1 has a b16a in it.
whereas urs has a d16ya.

you would actually have the D16Y8 engine and build dat woulda been dec 97. the EM1 also came with rear swaybar as standard

the em1s were 99-00 model and if you look carefully there will be a few exterior features that are different. as well as mentioned about different engines.

so more or less what i already new anyway. So essentially just slight differance in body shape and engine's. Yeh i meant to type d16y8. Was a typo sorry. Chassis wise are they the same in regards to suspension setup's, looking at getting coilovers instead of bigger wheels. Noticed alot of americans and japanese cars leave their rolling stock around 15' or 16'(plus id rather have better suspension then bigger wheels that scrape and are defectable). Also interior wise is thier any other real differance.

Yeah all EKs same suspension setups.
Interior wise, tacho in EM1 has higher redline, trims on doors and seats is a bit different. Nothing major.

For gauges, anything 'ek' related will do (just watch out if you buy actual clusters with redlines and the like changing between the d series engines).

Essentially (just to clarify the above):
EK = 96-00 hatch and sedan
EM = 99-00 coupe
EJ = 96-98 coupe

thats called the EJ2 or 6 i cant remmeber which one ....

ek refers to the sedan or hatch versions of the 96-00 civic

EM1 has fog lights and EJ8 dont
EM1 has rear disc brakes EJ8 has drums

they both can get fog lights dude (optional)

and em1 wont haf it from factory unless optional as stated.

yeah i think it came with 14's but it had the 15's on it when i bought it. Must be ej8 cause its got drums on the back aswell. Thanx guys ive skooled up a bit more now.
