Hi there,

Having to have just got a job and some money, I'm planning to make my first step into the world of modifications. So I'm just asking for some advice and what I need to be aware of for the following points:

Insurance
Regulations enforced by RTA and other legal entities
Technical issues with parts such compatilbility and performance

Stock Rims: 15x6 with RE040 185/55/15

Choice A:
2nd hand Buddyclub Qf's 15" x 7 - $1200
BS Adrenalin's RE001 195/50/15 - $460

CHOICE B:
Brand new Qf's - $1690
Firezna - $200 or BS Adrenalin's RE001 if offer is unavailable.

Currently, I'm leaning towards A but I think I'll only save 200 (if I get firenza tyres) over choice B.

After the wheels, I'll be looking forward lowering my car with 30mm limit enforced by NRMA's policy. So I'll be looking at Spoon Springs which cost $500. However, I'm not quite sure how much installation will cost or where to get it decently done. Can anybody shed me some light on this point?

The focus of my modifications is light handling and appearance improvements. Hence, why I'm getting BC qf's and spoon springs.

Any comments made and advices will be deeply appreciated.

Cheers,

Peter

what colour is your jazz? jazz looks good with white wheels. I think you dont have to tell insurance. With the RTA if im not wrong the legal limit is to go 3 inch bigger than your standard wheel so if you are getting 15" it should be fine.

your rolling diameter of the wheels will be affected as you have chosen a different size in tyres, i'm not too sure how they will be affected ut i'm sure other members will help you out there.

comments about insurance and rta are below, just remember your mods must be legal with the RTA to be legal for insurance.

insurance:
you will need to inform your insurance company that you have changed your wheels, this is so they will cover your wheels if they get stolen, damaged from a crash etc.

springs will also need to be reported to the insurance company, as it is considered a modification to your suspension and like above if you get into an accident and the insurance company may void your policy if the springs where not reported to them.

both mods may affect your premium so call before hand and check how much your premium will be affected by.

RTA:
in NSW the RTA restricts you from going more than 2" up in size from the factory wheels. in your case you do not need to worry as you are sticking to the factory size.

as long as the car is not lower than 10cm from the lowest point on the car to the ground you will be ok

hope this info has help you out a little
