My JVC KD-AVX2 headunit is down :(

Hey guys,

As the title states above that my DVD headunit lost visual last saturday all of the sudden when i put the face back in the unit, which is really sad...

I was driving for a few seconds and then i look at the headunit to discover that theres no lumination on the headunit nor any picture but just sound!!!

I believe i checked all the fuses and as well as the headunit fuse and they all seem to be fine, i also reset the headunit from that lil button and still nothing :( I am really shattered cos i have no warrenty on now either!!!

What do you guys thing it might be, time for a new one or can it be fixed???

FARK, thats gay man... i took so much care of it and now it dies on me :(

bring it to one of them car audio places
run by asians.
like in springvale or whereeva.. im in syd.
and ask them to check it out
and get them to give u a quote for how much to fix it
sometimes it woud be worth fixing.
othertimes not worth it, just to get a new one..

Try the reset button mate
I have AVX1 and with the same problem with you before, it works fine after it has been reset.

Last time it does not even sing but just little blue light on the side all the time lol

I reckon is just the illuminations that lid the Face has gone, it shouldnt be so expensive ............

i have a double din cd deck. Illumination completely died and i went to an asian place to get it fixed. Costed $150 just to give u a guide. A pin on some circuit board was snapped.

Yer, i've tried reseting the mofo but still nothing happens :(... I think it might be something inside of the face coz i said theres sound but thats all!!!

do you guys recommend anyone that can fix it?

this happened to me three times on the AVX1, twice under warranty and once just a couple of weeks after the warranty expired... after that I steer clear of JVC products... they're cheap for a reason

I got the JVC KD-LH3105 when it first come out it cost me over $800

One month before the warranty ran out the face went all scew if like phones do. So i took it to a JVC repairer and he got permission from JVC to fix it under warranty. He took the head unit for 3 days and said that it was a small conector that has been a common fault in the newer head units.

Anyways 5 weeks later and only 1 week after the warranty ran out it happend again so i took it back to the repairer. He said it should be ok because most of the time companies will give special permission for things to be replaced or fixed if they are just outside the warranty.

He rang me back the next day and said " I've got some really bad news and it sucks but they wouldn't give me permision to fix it" and he then told me if i rang them and pleaded my case i may be able to get him a code so that he can fix it under warranty.

I rang the number he gave me for JVC and pleaded my case and was told that there was nothing they could do for me. So i asked to speak to someone else and decided to try my hand at being diplomatic.

So asked if i could at least buy a new face plate directly from them so i could get it at a discounted or cost price. And that maybe i wouldn't be in this predicament if my face plate was replaced insted of repaired under warranty the first time. I was then told they dont do that sort of thing (sell direct to jilted customers) and the guy acted offended by my comments.

In the end thoe i'm glad i didn't pay for repairs or a new face plate when it stopped playing cd's only 3 months later

WOW... well amazingly, my dvd player has resirected from the dead and this morning when i prayed so hard and switched the car on to find that it works again :D... Now by what you guys are saying, i shouldnt count on it maybe to last any longer before it dies on me again but for now it works and civic96 is happy hehehe...

I'm probably gonna end up getting the newer version of this unit... either the KD-AVX33 or KD-NX5000 with navigation or do you guys think i should stay away LOL!

Anyways, back to doing my door trims to vinyl.
