LSD/Gbox oil - what to use?

im going to be installing a clutch type LSD into my CG gbox, and i've read that you have to use specific type of gbox oil for a gbox which has LSD - similar as using Honda friendly powersteering fluid (not just any fluid).

So... whats out there? what do you guys use?

redline synthetic is the best in my opinion, find out what the viscosity your supposed to use and match it up with the appropriate redline oil, really good stuff :thumbsup::thumbsup:

ask the manufacturer what they recommend.

For Quaife you just use what the car manufacturer uses.

well - 1st issue is that i don't know the brand of the LSD as its second hand from NZ. doesn't have a stamp on it either - but from the guys previous experiences it looks as tho its a Mugen LSD

Check with other clutch-LSD manufacturers. Cusco also do clutch LSD, so give them a call.

I use castrol syntrax with Cusco LSD 1.5way.

How often do you guys replace these? apparently for clutch LSDs they need to have an oil change about same as engine - 5000kms!

I'd do that. It would cheaper to do preventative maintenance and prolong the clutch life by a year or two than to have to pull the LSD out for a rebuild say every 40,000km.

5000km? nah...for street and occasional track 10 000-15000km is fine. I last changed mine at 20 000km, abit overdue.
