I wouldn't recommend it for a stock civic engine, what's wrong with exedy OEM replacement clutches for a stock engine? more than enough for the application

know your power goal, OR get it dynoed after.. then get a clutch with HP/TQ rating in excess of what you have.

You ever driven an unsprung clutch? instant grab... lol it kinda sux on a very heavy pressure plate... i highly discourage their use for high power cars with stock drivetrain, your gears will get full shock obsorption instead of the springs on a normal clutch.

shadou: FYI i've had those F1 racing clutches (stage 3 for Nissan) before in another car and they shit on an equivalent priced Exedy/Daikin I had... as for that price you can only really get "OEM replacements"

I actually just received my stage 3 for B16 with 9.75lb chromoly flywheel together for AU$440 delivered.

And that Gripforce shop is VERY reputable... i've also purchased slotted rotors from them before.... they have 3 eBay shops:
- Gripforce - Racing
- Gripforce - Clutches
- Gripforce - Brakes

thats no indication that you need to change it... clutches are supposed to be checked/re-adjusted every 10k or so for that reason.

It needs to be replaced if it slips.... while your car is rolling slowly, go into 2nd/3rd gear and floor it... if it doesn't slip then its fine

and if you've never ever tried an unsprung clutch, i suggest you try one on someone elses car first before you blindly switch, it's a completely different feel

b4 when i just let out the clutch abit and the car rolls like 5km but now it doesnt move unless i tap the accelerator, so what does this mean?
some time it slips too.

so your saying, your clutch is engaged and your car won't move unless you tap the accelerator?

Well if it is slipping by all means get a new clutch, look for a sprung clutch though and if budget allows get a light weight flywheel

yep my car wont move forward if i don't tap accelerator. but in reverse gear it moves.
im thinking of getting this http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/F1-STAGE-3-CLUTCH-PROLITE-RACING-FLYWHEEL-92-05-CIVIC_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33730QQihZ005QQit emZ150174166449QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW
might as well coz exedy cost the same and i only get a basic 1. with this i get also a flywheel.

ok... while in neutral AND stationary on flat ground, shift into 2nd gear, does it stall??

make sure you order the right one for your engine.... B/D series are different size

FYI, freight to Aus is US$139

Whats wrong with using a clutch rated too much over your output?

Eg. Using a stage 3 F1 clutch on a stock engine?
And whats an unsprung clutch?

No spring mechanism, so it's like ON/OFF. Really crappy for daily driver, especially peak hour/city driving.

The former (sprung) is "softer", like stock clutches. There's a little play before the clutch fully engages.

Nothing wrong with using a higher rated HP/TQ clutch on stock motor...Just not very comfortable.

Stock clutches hold up pretty well anyway, so if your not doing mods that will increase your power/torque by a fair amount, you may as well go with stock OEM clutches. BTW, IHE mods don't count...gains are small. Turbo is when you'll need an HP/TQ uprated clutch.

^^yep!!!

1996ek1: look at both clutches carefully... one has springs in the middle, the other doesn't. stock cars are always sprung.... makes engagement smoother.

you know when you fang your car and shift real hard.. it jolts a tad... without springs and you do that... jolt is like x3+ and yeah, drove a mates ride and got stuck in traffic while it was raining..... sucked so much donkey balls

So are most exedy sprung? and that F1 is unsprung, correct? (looks like it to me atleast)

And this one is sprung, correct?

I haven't dealt with adjusting the clutch yet, but my guess is adjust the clutch master cylinder if it's a hydro, and the clutch cable if it's a cable clutch.

Best to take it to a mechanic during a service, they won't charge you for it since it's apart of a service anyway.
