Bluetooth install

Well what a mess, had bluetooth and alarm installed by a mobile installer recommended to me..

1) When he installed the alarm he took the top off the plastic cover on the steering wheel column. To do this he forced it and broke half the clips so it doesn't clip on completely now (few mm gap).. Didn't notice till after he left as can only see from the side and when turning the steering wheel..

2) After he installed it I asked why the bluetooth didn't auto mute the stereo, he said "that isn't possible on most Japanese cars".. I explained the Honda BT kit does it and he said "they pass some special code to theh stereo".. Now do any of you have 3rd party BT kits that auto mute the stereo on your '06 and '07 civics?

The alarm and bluetooth kits work great, no problem with the products just the installer.. The distributor of the products organised the installer so I think it may be best to take it up with them!!!

what a load of bullshit.

he needs to get you a new oem part for the plastic cover on the steering column and a PROPER explanation as to why the audio doesnt mute

yeah, the worst part about the cover is the clips he broke were on the top and bottom parts.. bit more expensive I dare say... :-/

The installer wasn't even that cheap, so I can't even blaim the old "you get what you pay for"...

Does anyone here have a 3rd party bluetooth kit that mutes the stereo? I really want to know for certain he was lying, as the muting, which they claimed b4 the install was the main reason I got it and not one of those visor clip-on ones..

Went to Honda service center and got quote to give the alarm installer.. Was only $46 for the bottom piece and $35 for the top.. Less than I expected..

I'm not having a lot of luck with this car LMAO
