To me they seem very basic in design and performance. Wouldn't put them in the same class as JL Audio. I think from memory they are cool looking but entry level stuff from Orion.

the guy did say that but then again

he compared entry level orion was the same as pioneer, kenwood, and in sum cases clarion maybe Orion audio is good as jl audio but wcc may just be the equivelant of pioneer ETC

its entry level orion- plain and simple.

all they are is a very entry level sound system. i would put them up against us audio. if you want to put a cheap system together thets the way to go.

but for wht you pay they aren't toooooo bad, but for a little bit money you can get much better.

hi mate im an ex autobarn employee and the wcc stuff is most definatly entry level. The digital monoblock's arnt bad but to be honest the splits and axials/coaxials are pretty poor. Fairly pricey to from memory, you can certainly get more "bang for your buck" in other brands

when i was working there i took a close look at the coaxial speakers orion were putting out and the diagphams and spiders and the magnets were exactly the same as jaycars coaxials!! i couldnt believe it

yes, unfortunately in this cruel cruel world, people are forced to pay for the brand rather than the performance.

Jaycar products are very...very....good quality for a reasonable price.

but it depends if ur going for that WCC look or are u wanting quality? I would go something like Jaycar :D

but if ur going for brand and also quality, i would go for Alpine Type R or even the Type X

Yeah the WCC stuff is pretty basic. I wouldn't consider putting them in the same range as JL Audio.

Ask the dude at Autobahn for some proper info on them, if he can give it to you.

mate, that's what sales ppl do...try to sell ice-blocks to eskimos....but its a good thing not all eskimos are dumbshites. seriously, u cant expect that salesman to say that what he's selling is crap? he'd be out of d job! lolz...

that's y its always good to ask questions (like what u did) and do research b4 buying stuff....especially if "stuff" cost hundreds of ur hard-earned dollars.

btw, best way to go about it is to find out what speakers u wanna buy and maybe post another thread in here asking ppl's opinions. make sure to include the brand names, output power, price, all other bits and pieces that will give ppl enough to choose which one they prefer. and then u can decide on what to get. maybe even include photos of speakers (which u can easily get from the net...ebay.com.au, or maybe ryda.com.au or even thru the manufacturer's site)

good luck with ur purchase.........

or better yet, what type of setup are you going for mate.

couple of things i need to know :D

1. budget, cant go any furhter without this
2. what type of setup are you going for, when you say theme, this can mean a number or things... one brand? one type? (SPL or loud as you can go, or SQ sound quality) this can totally alter your budget and what you can do
3. do you have any other parts to the system yet?? (subwoofer, custom headunit) that may sound like a stupid question but if you have wires layed i can save you alot so you can spend more on da BASSSSS :P also if you already have a subwoofer, you dont want to go buying an amp that will blow it to peices or vice versa

:)

and remember, ull get better advice from a specialised car audio shop that employs ppl who intimately know car audio, autobarn staff cant be expected to have the same level of knowledge :)

yeh my brother in law owns a strathfield shop and he always tell the customer what he thinks of the product..

really i just listen to r&b sumtimes electro/house but mainly r&b and we know that has killa bass...

at the moment im running....a panasonic headunit new range, pioneer 4 ways in the front doors (soon to be alpine splits), 2008 range Alpine 6.5 inch rear speakers, pioneer sub running off alpine V12 amp..powers it perfectly

i kno i love alpine top brand only reason i wanted WCC is bcuz it was different and it would look mean cuz im PIMPIN my car out i dont want it to be a ricer lol...at the moment the sound system is mint loud, bassy everything but u just want a theme not 1000 brands although that aint a bad thing either...

at the end of the day it all comes dwn to money if i had a choice id be running 2 x 12 inch kicker subs..with everything JL audio...only reason im going alpine is..its that little bit cheapers and practically the same true?

i run some alpine components and they are good quality products but at the end of the day they are far from the be all and end all, there are always other options. mb quart, focal, boston, hertz, image dynamics, digital designs etc etc also make good speakers/subs and are worth checking out.

with car audio, appearance is also not a good indication of the quality of a product. for example audiosystem amps look quite simple but perform better than most :)

at the end of the day though, if u can find something that sounds good to u and ur happy with, stick with it :D

i wouldnt put alpine in the same catagory as kicker and jl. i run 1 kicker cvr comp dual 2 ohm voice coil 12" sub with a vdo dayton "brainvibrations" 1000w rms monoblock and get "MASSIVE BASS". Kicker is a great sub choice and jl is a great amp choice

depends on level. i understand high end kicker and jl stuff is pretty good. their budget stuff is probably not quite the same but budget alpine gear (type e/s) isnt exactly right up there either :)

Alpine are more for the masses, JL are a little more upmarket i would say.
but besides the point, going from alpine to WCC is a step down IMO

so it sounds like you have a semi alright setup atm, im guessing the V12 is the 605 series.

my advice would be to upgrade the sub to a Type R, (pioneer are good for one thing and one thing only, headunits my friend)

if your looking for a brand to stick with, alpine offer a nice range of products that you could upgrade through the range, for eg.

start off with a V12 605 and type R setup.

later buy another V12 605, or sell the one you got and move up to a 1005 and upgrade to a Type X sub.

if your PIMPN out your car man, dont drop the quality of the system :)
i know i may get flamed here, but WCC can look rice.

if i were in your shoes, i would go for a custom boot install, all alpine :)

haha nahh no flaming lol...to be honest i got no idea what type of V12 amp it is but i do know it a real old one my mate gave me wen he was on his p's...for sum reason the old amps always run good dunno why...

im definatly goin custom boot install with dvd screens n the works...but yeh alpine i reckon is the way to go for the money...my mates have got type R's and they are madd

to be honest half my system was hand me downs lol

E.G

My sub came out of my sisters boyfriend's car...he already has a sub so he gave it to me..the amp as i said of my mate, the pioneer 6 inch 4 ways at the front came out of the parcel shelf, everything else i bought lol

one quick question what about the dub range...would u classify that as the same as WCC????

by the sounds of it a typre r sub or kicker sub is the way to go...

Vinnie
03-11-2007, 02:02 PM
again, there are other options to look at other than alpine :)

never heard of the dub range but souhnds like another promo thing...

yeh i think it is...cuz it all looks mint..u kno chrome spinning subwoofer grills, amps with rims on them lol im guessing so......yeh of course theres way better than alpine but its good for the money...my mate decked his *cough* Commodore lol in all jaycar component shit and *** its loud only thing not form jaycar is the kenwood dvd player but damn thats a good range

jaycar is the best value for money you can get (buying brand new that is) but dont be afraid to get second hand items, i have seen some $5000 systems built for less than half that, god knows how much my system wouldve cost brand new lol...
here is a site that will help you to buy second hand stuff, every single part of my system came from the site below and not one peice failed to meet the standard :) you can also learn abit about the audio game there too :D
