HID's not too bright

jus got myself some HID 8000K, only took 30mins to hook them up and they look great. however they are not shining at its full capacity. when i change it from normal headlights to hid it goes very bright and then dulls down.
has anyone encounter this? and could it be that i have to change my fuses from the 10A to a higher one like 20A or somthing ?
any help would be great :thumbsup:

do they run directly off your battery OR are they hooked up via the normal wiring ?

they are hooked up through normal wiring

are they LOW beam or HI/LOW beam ?
You might need to adjust the lights slightly up to be properly viewable

they're hi/low beam.
yeh its abit odd. flicking to high beam (which is when the hid's are on) it goes bright like how HID's are meant to be for 2 seconds, and then after the 2 seconds its as tho theres not enough volts to power it and fades alittle. jus knowing that it could be brighter bugs me lol

8000K HIDs are not bright. 8000K is close to blue/violet, and that's why they are dimmer. The initial short duration of extra brightness when first turned on is normal.

so you HOLD the high beam and they dimmer alittle ? It shouldnt matter at all - the bulbs are exactly the same on low/hi just the angle changes.
HIDs are briefly very bright when turning on as they are igniting the element in the globe.

Might be an issue with your wiring ( loose ?!) or your relay might be buggered.

yeh its my first time playing wit hid's so i dnt know if thats how they are mean to be, but i guess its nothing major to worry about =) i'd jus like one more person to agree with aaronng and i'll leave them how they are lol

The stock wiring should be able to handle the power draw once the bulbs have ignited. It's only the initial current draw that is about 70-80W that risks overheating the wire. Once on, the HIDs consume only about 30-40W. I'd still use a relay, using the stock wiring just to trigger and run the ballast straight to the battery.

HID's naturally are brighter for the first few seconds they are turned on and then they are dulled down.

They are like the energy saver bulbs you use at home. They are initially bright for 0.5s, then look very dim. Give it a few minutes and the brightness will increase gradually back to almost how it was. Most HIDs even change colour as they warm up.

yeps its jus like what the other guys said. they go bright , dimm , then gradually go back to bright again so dnt freak out limbo if it happens to u =)
