hi everybody, it would be much appreciated if you could help me with these three questions:

1. is it possible to fit a Dc2 integra air box into a Ek Civic?

2. what shape is the piping that comes down from the box of the Dc2 where the air flows through, is it a "U" shape liek the one on a Ek civic and comes up to a resonator?

3.is it true that the Dc2 integras come factory standard with a Pod air filter?

thanks to anyone who can answer or lead me to a thread relating to any of these questions.

The DC2 air box is a piece of crap...

1. is it possible to fit a Dc2 integra air box into a Ek Civic?

Asuming the ek is an ek4 vti-r or coupe, then yes. Danny put a dc2 one on his b16a

Is this the lastest craze? I see a lot more airboxes from DC2/5R's in civics than i have ever seen before? Does it give more power advantage over a common SRI? or aftermarket CAI let alone homemade? what's the deal? i'm baffled! :?

nah, its the new w4nk factor that one must have to increase the power of ones car.
no it makes nothing in power gains.

LOL@Adrian... I think it's for the OEM "pod style filter" access.

Yes, i have the dc2 airbox with k&n pod on my ek, I don't think it is 'crap'. The gains I saw with this setup were really good, and the throttle response across the whole rev range was excellent.

I have tested the following intakes on my car:
- stock airbox with panel filter
- cai with pod in bumper
- pod in dc2 airbox

The dyno figures for those intakes on my car (stock, except for intake) were (in same order as above):
- 95kw@wheels
- 94kw@wheels (yep, loss of power.. the car felt so dowey)
- 97kw@wheels

Honestly, no car is the same, so take your time and do some research before deciding which intake is best for you. But, it is my opinion that value for money the dc2 airbox setup is definitely worth it.

genesis, how long in between runs did u make those runs?
what temps were ur coolant at?
what temps were ambient at?
what gear were each runs at?
was there any load or ramp given/chagned between runs? can u be for sure besides the dyno operators words?
how many kms between runs did ur car do?

not having a go at ya, but when ur talking 1 kws difference, any of those factors could have done that, and not the mod. for example, when i ran my car stock power run, i ran 84kws at the wheels initally. after letting the car cool and rest (because we ran 84kws after i drove for half and hour to get there), 2nd run yielded me 86kws, nothing changed at all, EXCEPT the conditions, the coolant temp was abit lower, adn ambient (later in the day) temps were abit lower.
hope that clarifies

I can't answer those questions, however I am not saying the dc2 airbox setup is better solely on those dyno figures. The car drove a lot better, and pulled a lot harder throughout the whole rev range.

Dyno figures don't mean anything except to the people that love numbers too much.

Sorry... No offence intended... :P
Seriously though, I get better results from a DC2 with the lid off the box, than closed... (Programable ecu)

exactly.. :)

genesis, how did u get your hands on a Dc2 Air box? does it come with the pipes and everything.? is it a straight fit? did u do CAI from the box? thanks in advance !

well for the people who dont have programable stuff..

anywayz...

the DC2 box is the best way to fit a pod filter withough getting any cop trouble.

and..
if u feed cold air through..the filter...
ie using a custom CAi kit..(benny's performance.)
u'll have noticeable power gains
anywayz i think OEM honda parts r they best non stock mods u can make..on a low budget..:D

I got the box off a mate. I didn't get the pipes, so i had to create a custom pipe. Yup, gotta have cai to the box from the bumper.
