Has anyone attempted to make a custom airfilter box?
If so care to share the dimensions etc?
If not;
What material should I use? & Any other help would be good.
And what are your thoughts about this
Thanks.

I wrote a DIY up on it. It's for the Euro, but you can follow the same steps, except for the plans for the airbox itself. http://www.ozhonda.com/forum/showthread.php?t=53595

do you even have an aftermarket airfilter lol
@aaronng
yeah I was reading through that earlier, but wouldnt it be better to line the inside with heat resistant material or something like ucme suggested polysterene?

I used nitrile rubber instead. It's a good insulator. I don't like polystyrene because it degrades under heat. Read the whole DIY. It's spread over the first 4 pages.

Thanks guys,
Im gonna go buy aluminium sheet & nitrile rubber, and see how it goes.

oh man i need alot of tools, thanks ucme for the photos!
no problems. just a tip. use some thick cardboard to get the shape and dimensions right before you begin. im very happy with my finished result but the bitch thing is i have to remove the lid, the filter and the pipe just to get to my headlight globe :( but i dont regret it as its better than having an exposed filter on a SRI

why dont you use your stock box, change the intake pipe, buy a k&n airfitler that fits inside your stock box, then run a pipe from behind the bar to feed your airbox fresh air

WoW... that is a sick intake box... I'm considering to go panel or pod filter rite now but im not sure what to do and what is best for me.
I'd love to do something like that as you have done claymore but i would have no clue or idea what to get or do :(

Hahahahaha.I Love honesty!!!!!!!!!!!!
Go a Pod filter man, then build a custom box for it.
Buy an aftermarket intake or get one made up,stick a pod filter on it then copy what aaronngs has done for the box.Link is on page 1.Not hard.Time to bring out your skillz wid your hands YO!

LOL... nothin better than honesty :p
But yer, first i'll need to get some sort of extension pipe from somewhere cheap and then the K&N filter with some clamps and then the aliminium sheets and then take some time to build the box!
But i love what claymore has done with the insulation, thats some sick sh*t yo... RESTECPA!

IMO i reckon get a aluminium one made up the same size n shape of the standard plastic box u have there. n just run a pipe up from the front guard to the bottom of the box, n n aluminium pipe to your intake manifold! but thats just my opinion. if i get roudn to doing it i mgiht give it a shot!
lol i've been talking/thinking about doing this for agges. Never got around to it.
as i was buying all the materials i had the sri with an exposed pod and got defected -__-. That just made me give up.
Claymore+others who have a similar setup. What do the popo say when they see that? lol

i thought about making a fibreglass/carbon fibre one similar to the gruppe m.
but since it only works for the jdm fronts.
i also thought about making a scoop hole kinda thing on my front bar and make a carbon fibre insert so it rams the air to where i want it to go
the only thing i dunno how to do is make the carbon fibre material look good.
so wat im currently thinkinf of doing is buyying the gruppe m one.
and gettin some1 to make the insert for me. lolol

All i used was a prelude Intake rubber pipe... Longer and wider than civic or integra...
then used a 3inch aluminium pipe with a 45* bend...
then attached the top part of my air box with a K & N panel filter right behind the front bumper cut 3 holes were the smog lights are meant to go..
I used to have a pod in that same spot but everything that tyres picked up ended up on the pod and eventualy ripped holes in it...
This way the hard cover is facing the tyre and the panle filter is facing oncoming air...
Was enough for me to drop my PB at track from 14.3 to 14.1 and gained a average of 1.5mph to 2mph in my runs
