ey guys

my mate is plannin to buy a civic eg with a full conversion b16a in it

it has been engineered properly and everything

but it hasnt got back disc brakes ..(it has drums) (Front are disc)

i was wondering if it would pass blueslip with REAR DRUM brakes?

will it be reliable?

how much would be a conversion to back disc brakes?

thanks in advance guys

drum brakes are factory units, thus it should have no problem passing

when i did my engine conversion, the blue slip only checked things like the engine number/chassis number stuff, then looked at the import book and then just your normal pink slip stuff. Didn't take very long at all. and cost me like $50 about 5 yrs ago

It may pass, but does that relly make it safe.

I would do a full front and rear brake upgrade on it as soon as i could if i was you.

Stopping and steering is SO MUCH more important than just being able to go fast!!

first intial bite, and normal driving, will be better, has it has more contact surface, it's when it gets hot, that it goes to the shitter.

it will pass....but i experienced very mean brake fade with drums on the back of my civic once trying to slow for a roundabout with a car coming around it with me travelling at about 100 or so.its not a nice feeling to be dodging cars because your brake pedal is going to the floor.

I changed to rear discs and ive never felt brake fade again...stock fronts are ok for street use....but i will be upgrading them when i get the money too now that my b16 is in

Have you considered the fact that your fluid was "dead" and that caused the Brake Fade? and that when you switched to Disc on the rear, you had to bleed the system, putting in fresh fluid, hence you don't experience fade?

are you talking about the eg3 civic with the b16a conversion on ebay? you'll have to repair the rusted hole before it can even be complied. brakes should pass compliancing if you fit new pads/shoes. and note that its a breeze base model, so the sussy, seats, and interior trim is crappy.

but if you're purchasing another eg civic with a b16a conversion, then just upgrade the pads/shoes if you think it will fail the compliancing/whatever slip you guys need over there.

Imo,as long as your mate gets the front disc brake assembly & brake master booster off the B16A front-cut installed he should be ok. When his budget allows later on he can get the proportioning valve & rear disc assembly put on.

Yeah, if he wants to spin his car out on the 1st hard run he accidentally breaks into the apex of a corner, you do not want to be too front bias...
