I just got back from Lifestyle and brought home a P1 12in Sub and a P200-2 amplifier. Here's the thing though, I'm not too sure if they actually gave me a good price on it, they charged me $800 for the sub, amp, the box, all the cables, line converter and the installation.

Do you guys think that I was overcharged? I know that I can't do anything about it now, because it seemed like a good deal when I was in there, but it'll be good to know if the price is reasonable.

all I can tell you that the price for the sub and amp itself is arnd $400, you figure if another $400 is worth the rest... I'd say if the place does good install and you dont know nothing about the audio installation then its a good deal...

sounds about the right price :) i dunno about how much of a good deal it is though, i mean darkangel is right for price of the amp and sub (usually about $350 for the sub and $450 for the amp), but depending on what cables they use and fuses etc... will make a difference in the savings, i mean i have cabled out a car for $50 before lol. but at least your not loosing money, and if the installation is done right i think the peice of mind is worth it :D

damn, i thought i was getting a good deal because the guy said that the amp itself is worth $450. Well lesson learnt, i shouldn't buy things before researching about them first :(.

It's an Okay price, you could have got it cheaper.

And couldve also got better gear.

Rodney at Lifestyle pushes RF hard, so yeah not suprised you walked out with RF gear.

unless if you get the rockford's 3sixty.1 line converter which is arnd $400-450... then its totally worth it.. :D

yea very true its like we all said man, the installation is where the money will make a difference, make sure you check what hes put in, and if he uses cheap parts, ask him whats up, tell him you thought you were getting a good deal... he might not change his mind but at least you will have one up on him next time you buy something :P

when i went and had a look at RF gear a long time ago..

subs were around 250 - 350.. without box..
amps were about $1.20 per RMS.. so 400rms = $480 and if u could get it cheaper.. then BARGIN!! but as rms goes higher i think $ per rms gets lower.. liek .90 cents... if that makes sense...
and box's depends on what box.. if its sealed, ported, slot ported, made custom, from manufactuer.. etc.. lol

i just thought RF was too overpriced and for the price of them i could have got soundsteam or boston acustics.. etc... all the nicer ones.

sub + amp: $400
sub box: $150-300 for custom made one, no matter wat type. otherwise $50-100 for a premade one
wiring: $50-100
installation for just sub & amp: $100-200
LOC, depends which one.. but so far its sounds like a decent deal. doesnt seem like u got ripped off

^ very true... it all depends mate, the quality of the job, wirings, the box itself and what LOC they use.. but it seems like an ok price to me, its just that you might save a bit if you DIY, but if it sounds too hard for you then $800 for the lot is ok...

i think they are taking advantage of you if you dont know your stuff, from personal experince i have been told crap from them, for $800 i think you could have got more and RF is overrated IMO.

you'll never really get a good price so to speak for rockford because lifesytle are the sole distributors in SYD for the brand as far as i know.

you cannnot shop around for prices for rockford..depends on how well you negotiate with them

i was going to visit car audio excellence at blacktown after lifestyle, but i the guy from lifestyle (rodney) made it seem like it was a really good deal, and after reading all the replies, i don't think that he ripped me off.

just need to wait another week for the installation cause they're pretty booked out until next saturday :(

and also, have u guys heard the Alpine type-s component speakers? if yes, how are they? thinking of replacing the front speakers and putting tweeters in as well. do tweeters make heaps of difference?

those alpine speakers are pretty mad
make sure u have enough room to mount them tho because they hav massive magnets nd could get in the way of the window

Yes, tweeters make a difference.

Standard car speakers which are 6inch try and play the whole audible frequency range, from 20hz-20khz+.

So when you have a sub, and splits. [ and depending on the crossover settings]

The sub plays 20hz-80hz, midwoofer plays 80-3khz, tweeter plays from 3khz-20khz.

which means that you are putting less "strain" on the speakers. where they only play certain frequency bands, so it sounds much more "clearer" and defined.

whats your budget for the front speakers??? if you can afford type R then go for them, but then again if your running off the headunit it wont make much of a difference which speakers you choose
