Yeah, i was thinking about putting a turbo kit on a civic vti_r coupe just to be able to compete with stock turboed cars like skylines and wrx's. I know it goes against honda engines make to be turboed ("natural aspiration"), but she just needs more. What do you guys think?

Do I/H/E 1st if u haven got it.. and if u think its too slow.. do JUN cams etc... clutch flywheel final drive everything.. thats the art of driving a honda..
turbo it is gonna cost about $3500 parts+$1000 fit and tune.. not sure though.. and its not factory.. any shit is hard to identify unless u can DIY or veri rich to have a mechanic to take care of everything..
i say either try modding abit 1st if u haven done so.. den Turbo it when u are serious and gonna keep the car for next few years at least..
coz frankly speaking.. ur EM1 is still worth about $12k+ if kms are not bad.. so sell it u can get a R33 GTS-T for about $15k-$18k..
U find it easier to add power to the Skyline den to squeeze so much out of a b16a... honda is reliable but once u push it too much over the limit you wear the engine faster.. jus my opinion.. every1 dun BOMB me.. thanks n gd luck

turbo it if thats really what you want to do. just don't cut any corners and if its tuned properly theres no reason why it shouldn't last long.

haha.. i agree.. nv cut corners and tuning is vital.. but lasting long is longer than average skylines n wrx.. but cannot beat a stock honda's reliability... the more u squeeze out, the shorter the life of the engine..
turbo wont bring u pass 250 000km without major shit to solve unlike mildly moded N/A honda... seen couple of guys with 270 000 km still going strong..
again dun bomb me... i put reliability above all thats why i have a Honda..

ur not gonna drive an EK4 turbo for the next 100,000 km. boost the bitch, rebuild the block, dont be another skyline whore and be part of the rare party that boosts honda's. dont just give in and say yeh ill give $10-15k and get a R32/R33, spend same amount on a civic but make sure you use strong internals!. like the saying goes
whats the point of a boosted honda? to have a boosted honda.

yeah, cheers. There is still a few other mods i could do first that would be a bit cheaper and safer for the engine.

shit yeah, that's what i love about the honda too. I want to stand out, cause some mornings here in toowoomba just going to work i can see about 3 or 4 skylines or wrx's. But i've only seen one civic coupe here.

I dun tink he is gonna spend $10-$15k on the honda. What was suggested was to sell the honda and get another say $5k and get a R32/R33.. If a good condition one, some simple mods on a R32/33 will yield more power. But hey, $5k on honda will not make it as fast as a gd R33 GTS-T..$10-$15k it will..

Why bother with skyline, they are ugly as. Also no matter what you do NA wise to your 1.6, it's still gonna feel gutless and no pull at all. Just turbo the thing and chuck on fat chromes, you will be a hectic kunt on the road.

$5k on a Civic B16 Vti-R will not..
For example
Headers: Toda Headers $1300
Exhaust: Mugen Twin loop $1200
Intake: J's racing big belly $450
Install: the above $300+-$500
Buddy club spec 3 cams: full package $2000+
will give u about 110kw-120kw atw... fast for a honda. But to beat a good GTS-T will require a bit more. With this u can only keep up and give the skyline a good run. Maybe with a good standalone ECU and strip the car, there's more chance.
Even with a turbo on a b16 vti-r $5000 to get a turbo kit+install+I/H/E+ECU is not enough. This is for the pricing for a average person, who buys off the workshop.

I think with a turbo kit it might be enough

If you want to boost it, boost it.
VTIR motor responds great to boost.
Do it right and you'll have heaps of fun.

haha might be enough.. but definitely requires lots of effort in tuning and getting together all the right mods that is gonna cost u time, money and hard work..
anyway turbo is good.just make sure u are sure u wanna do it. Dun do it half way and give up. Coz u need to include ECU+tuning cost into ur budget.. good luck mate..

$5k to add boost and i'm sure it will be as fast if not faster than a skyline.
I know of a b18 doing low 13s with only semi slicks. Pretty sure he could pull a 12s pass if he put his mind to it. Most Skylines GTS do not pull a low 13 stock, and then they are ugly cars ;P
