does anyone know how to install an amp to the dc5S stock HU, i know abt all the converters that are needed but.. how do u remove the HU and then do the wires etc etc...

ps got quoted like 650 to do that.. with the installer supplying all wires etc... so i was like :eek: mutha of lord haha

i dunno how to remove the HU from a dc5.. but $650?? tell em theyre dreamin if its JUST TO INSTALL A AMP!! damn overpriced is a BIG understatement

yeah.. i know.. ahhh.. so if anyone knows any body good but cheaper it wud be apreciated and if anyone knows how to do it and wudnt mind writing up a DIY article.. thanks heaps

1. remove the dashboard center lower cover
2. remove the 2 mounting bolts, then remove the center panel
3. disconnect the audio unit connector, antenna lead and hazard warning switch connector then remove the audio unit
4. remove the 4 mounting bolts and the audio unit assembly from the audio bracket
hopefully this works

taken out straight from the shop manual...

the lower panel are held by clips.. undo that then disconnect the cig lighter harness and you shall be able to remove the 2 bolts holding the stereo bracket. To remove the stereo just try and push the whole assembly from inside rather than trying to pry the panel since you can scratch or even crack the panel if you're not careful..
