hello, was tossing between these two bodykits to get for my euro.... i couldnt find a full pic of OEM style. Going to buy it of carmate.com. MG style is a little conservative but looks alright. Theyd dint ahve a pic for oem style. If anyone has any pics of oem post em if u can, would help me make my decision

there are plenty more man.

I tried the whole body kit thing, I was disappointed. Get the OEM one, but get it from Honda, or import one from a reputable manufacturer.

Because most of the kit from carmate are not made from A Grade fibreglass so it's not flexible and cracked easily. If you wanna buy replica just make sure the quality is good. The mugen kit that i have now is really flexible so it won't crack easily.

My family has had bad experience with carmate some years ago...!

Mum thought it would be nice to get dad a kit from there for christmas

not knowing any better (and neither did i at that time) she got one from car mate...

it took forever to even arrive and when we took it to the painter it was even more trouble...!

the kit didn't kit so needed altering and this is when you start to find out the quality is lacking as well as the service and fitment (if that's even a word)

so i agree

Please don't buy from carmate spend the 3600 and get genuine honda...or genuine mugen

my 2 cents

I saw a red Euro with the Jetspeed bodykit a few weeks ago on Liverpool Rd. It looked like the Luckystar bodykit with Monaro nostrils on the bonnet. It was a weird-looking car. I'd prefer the Mugen bodykit or just OEM.

Just a suggestion if anyone has the time, pics and can be bothered. It might be a good idea there was a sticky topic in the Euro section dedicated to bodykits (inc grills), including pics and a brief description of all of them, including some of the following:

OEM (03-05) & (06-07)
Mugen
Euro R/Sport
Luckystar
Phase/Spoon
Kenstyle etc...

Anyway back to the topic, i'd just go for the OEM kit and get some rims, or if that is too plain for your tastes, get the kenstyle.

if you don't want to spend too much and you want the oem kit, just buy it from www.carmate.com.au. I have purchased this kit and my friend painted and fitted it. He said that it was very easy to install and no alterations were needed...

OK,

Got some prices coming in. ( I'll share: so you guys should too so we can work this out!)

Talon BodyStyles OEM Kit:
Primed/unpainted gst inc: Front Lip, Side Skirts, Rear Bar $740 plus Ship.
Painted kits are about $100 per part so extra $300 ( 3 parts).
Fitting about an extra $300 also.

Im considering getting the primed and painting/fitting myself as a fun project. But I dont know:

Is Talon:
Fibreglass? Any good?
Comes with parts to fit 3M tap, screw and instructions??
Decent quality???
Talon Compared to Carmate??? Any ideas.

Im probably going to do it I just email them about the intructions and shipping costs as well as type of material used..lets see...

Good prices though! Less than half OEM.

Q1.I'm sure it's fibreglass.Good fit from what i hear.Talon do a lot of dealers cars that they obviously sell to customers in my area.
Q2.I assume so,better email them to be sure.
Q3.Quality is good.
Q4I'd go Talon.Heard a few negative reports about Carmate,how true they are i don't know,like i said i've only heard.
I'd get the kit painted and then fit it.

Tony, Your on the money i think.

Talon responded to my email straight away.

the Talon kit is fibreglass, they do supply all the mounting hardware and the lady kindly sent tme the mounting instructions. Thats good service considering i havent bought yet.

Heres my big concern: i want to buy the painted kit and fit myself but:

What if their R81 Milano red paint is slightly different to my factory stock R81? Ill be stuck with a painted kit that I have to repaint!

Maybe ill just get the painted front lip and see the paint match and then order the rest...they do have to make each part when you order so theres a wait which im cool with.

tony1234

You're going to have this problem ever if you get the OEM kit because of the age of your car and being red it'll have faded slightly from new.The only way around it is to go to a good panel shop, leave your car there and they'll colour match the kit to your cars paint and install it if you wish.

Bugger it:

Ive just ordered and paid $390 delivered/painted to canberra for the front lip from Talon. They are very professional to deal with.

Ill get the rest of it ( rear bar, side skirts)once I see the quality of the lip. Its oem style, I'd prefer the mugen fornt lip but Im not paying over a grand.

$390 painted is a friggin bargain. I will fit when i do my foglights. Takes about a week to arrive.

Thanks for the advice!

now I have to decide if I get the OEM sides / Rear bar or the mugen style sides and rear bar! Dunno how that goes with front oem lip!

Talon OEM Style ( Copy) Observations:

Paint Quality and Match. 9/10 Very good paint and clear coat. Close match to my 3.5 year old R81 milano red. Does seem to chip easy but thats the fibreglass.

Fit and Finish. 8/10 Very easy to fit, need 2 people. I got the recommened SikaFlex 252 adhesive from Bunnings and used the supplied screws. It very firmly fitted and i think its looks right. I had to lightly file about 4 spots as the paint made it a bit thick on some corners. Too easy but take your time.

Value: Ive been waiting 3 years to get a kit. This is the best bang for buck with quality that I have ever found. This front spoiler painted and delivered was about $380 gst inc. I challenge anyone to find a better kit for the money. Im getting the rest of the kit which will be about another $800 all up.

Issues: Only issues I see is that I have already scrapped it and my cars not that low but thats not the kits fault. Flibreglass doesnt flex so if you hit it it will likely crack badly. And as I said thie paint will chip. This is part of looking after your car anyways.

Conclusion: if you after a factory kit at well under half the price and can fit yourself then this is it. Im getting the sideskirts and rear bar. So for the $1100 all up cost, i reckon it adds abiut $2500 to the value of the car maybe, but more importantly looks nice and tough, with the factory ( non-rice) looks. This will make the car eaiser to sell when I get my 370Z :angel: but for now im really happy and will report in when the rest of the kit is fitted.

Now I just need another 25kw to match the looks!
Exhaust next!

Foglights: Thats $30 USD plus $50 ship Ebay foglights. I skipped the factory plugs and instructions as they didnt fit my cars as meant for tsx. A simply routing of the wiring means I can turn on the fogs at any time regardless of the normal headlights, but they will turn off when you remove the keys. I painted them R81 ebay red with supercheap r81 spray and clear coat.

The fit isnt perfect but they look the business with the new front lip dont you think? Great for "counter-fogging" commdore ute dickheads!:D

I cant image why anyone would'nt paint the stock grey fog plastics! Note that the standrad grey plastic fogs wouldnt take proper undercoat but they took the red paint paint perfectly. Wierd.

Makes the car look a lot tougher and "get out of my way" from the rear vision mirror to help me cut through traffic!

What do you guys think?

hey suntzu looks good

can you get a side on shot of the car especially side on shot of the front spoiler?
and also shot of rear bar when its all done

if theres one thing about the stock euro, its the way the front bumper slopes under when you look at it side on...looks sucky...

how difficult was it to remove the fog lights? I noticed it was not installed in your last pic.
Coz my car has OEM fogs on it.
