just wanting some input on people who have upgraded from b16's to b18's

now power figure its only a tiny bit, but i'm really just in it for the torque that it'll provide over the 1.6. don't really care much for power output since personally the b16 feels like enough power for me
will probably throw in a light weight flywheel and use a tunable ecu for future mods and will be spending a bit on sussy components(asr, 22mm rear sway, better springs for my koni yellows, strut braces)

is it worth it at all to follow through with the mod or am i just a nut job to bother at all?

I wouldn't bother changing to a b18c unless there was something wrong with your b16a.

i would just do a b20 vtec conversion all you would need is b20 long block and conversion kit(plus ECU obviously but you said you already want to get one)

B20 VTAK!! hahaha....

you know you got options bro...

I think Vinny is trying to keep it within the 15% RTA engine capacity upgrade. Just got for a ITR motor, b18c2 not much of an upgrade.

As others have said, its not much of an upgrade for the dollars u'll spend.

I run a JDM B18C2 in a little gen 2 CRX & it still amazes me how torqueless it is,I thought i would get a descent amount out of running in such a lightweight shell, but it isnt.

Fatboyz B16A CRX is running 14.5's compared to my 14.1's so u can see how little difference there is.

If u have to upgrade to B18 at least try to budget for the better power figures of the B18CR or the torque of the B20

Just swap out the bottom end for a B20b, its cheaper and you will end up with more power and torque than a B18cR

Basic parts list:

B20b short block $800
VTEC conversion kit $300
Rod bolts $75
Head studs $150
Water pump $150
Gaskets $150
Timing belt $75
==================
Total $1700

Thats just parts cost, have to factor in labour. Might as well change pistons rings, and cut the valve reliefs.
