no. Can't be done anymore. Already looked into it. Anyone who says otherwise is speaking from their ass and has never looked into it.

The only way to import an NSX, is to move overseas, buy one, and own it for a year, then bring it back with you.

according to adr it is not much difference to the nsx we got here thats way
there was a chance to import them under the 15 yr import rule so a few came through b4 they change the criteria to the 15 yr rule
so only a few 90's models were able to come thru

hmmm

interesting....can som1 explain y?

i know this isnt the best comparison, but ive heard its possible to get the series 1 jdm gtr 2007 model as a grey import later on, because nissan australia never sold the gtr here in 07

and y doenst the 15 yr old rule apply for the nsx? if u found one old enough, or one that was released in a year were honda never sold the nsx here, then u guess u could bring it in?

ill look this up later...

the 15 yr rule no longer exists

its now called the pre 1989 rule

the 15yo was a loophole wich was exploited by car importers & you cant import a car which has the same chasis or was sold here...

for example i know that u cant bring in grey import GTR 32 in 1992, coz in that same year nissan australia released a audm r32 gtr

but u could bring one post 92 or pre 92 since nissan didnt sell them here during that time

What's your point?

Honda sold the NSX here from 1990-2002.

No matter how you look at it from your point of view, you're up shit creek :).

The NSX was first seen in 1989. Wasn't released to the public til 1990.

The last NSX rolled off the production line in 2002.......

im pretty sure the NSX was produced/sold upto 2005

the 2002 to 2005 model got the facelift

It was. I meant the newer updated NSX rolled off the line in 2002. Not the last.

Case being, his point is still moot.

look heres the import laws. you can only import a car under a grey import if the vehicle is listed (i think under SEVS) as allowable for grey import

any other vehicles you have to apply for it to be imported and complianced. if you apply for it then you will need to import 2. the first for the crash test. and the 2nd is the compliance vehicle.

the regulations won't allow a car to be imported if it was ever released in australia. you could import the nissan silvia because the car we got here is the nissan 200sx. different model name. the variant doesn't matter

the EP3R got special consideration because we never got a 3 door EP civic in aus.

the NSX can't be imported (anymore, there were around 20 imported in the late 90s under the 15yr rule. but that was only a 9 month period before they changed the 15yr rule).

you can do a private import. in which case you will need to own the vehicle overseas for a minimum of 12 months. provide employment proof for that country and future employment proof for aus. also you will need (in japan's case) a 12 month parking permit.

so the end of the story is. if you want an NSX. work overseas and own the car for 12months. otherwise buy one locally
