Hi guys.
I was installing buddyclub N+ sussy on my DC5 with my frien yesterday until 3am and some reason one of the studs of left rear suspension snaped while my frien was tightening the other one. I didn't tighten hard compare to the front ones coz I always tighten all the bolts at the end to make sure safety. very disappointing coz the bolt should be much stronger.
this was so unexpected incident and I went around places to get it fixed today but no one actually had the right answer.
I was wondering if anyone in this honda love club can help me out with this one.
I will be very appriciated.

you tightend the bolts too tight thats why it snapped?
1 you overtightened but i would expected only a long torque wrench or breaker bar to do so.
2 you incorrectly installed the bolts and sheared them off (possibly too much concentrated load).
suspension bolts are definitely not weak.
can be your abit more specific in regards to which bolt and where?

U know there are two bolts for rear ones and 3 for front ones. it's one of the rear susys. I should take a pick soon.

BTW guys , there is only 1 "bolt" you need to remove at the rear for a DC5/R.
It holds the rear shock to the rear solid beam arm. Then there is 2 holding the shock in ofcourse :)
I worry what you did tayoon in your DIY stuffs lol...maybe broke alot more than you think. Send us all some pictures...

man this is much harder than civic coz I gotta take out tie rod aswell. and the rear suspension is in weird place where u can hardly fit spanner in. this is way much harder. I shouldn't of started.
Hey Dr. ben would u know any way to get new bolt?

oh , you mean the 2 x upper shock cup bolts. They could be a softer metal if a cheaper coilover. Looks like you must of over tightened them OR tighten the nut onto it at a slight angle and snapped it.

Yeh I'm very disappointed with buddyclub coilovers. the bolt looks quite weak inside. I wouldn't be surprised if other ones break again

quit the spam ladies :)
well it seems the only choice would be to get a replacement mounting plate.
as ppl have been saying BC coilovers (the lower end) are all made in the same factory etc etc as other brands such as d2, g4, ksports
perhaps look into getting a 3rd party replacement (i.e. d2 coilover top mount) , something that isnt branded. will be cheaper most likely.
p.s and stop the protein powder. ur too strong for your own good. + should be using torque wrench as well.

I've actually replaced with stronger bolts like 10 grades instead of 7 which BC's use. No nd to buy another shitty top mount again.
really can't understand how they can use weaker bolts then honda OEM bolts.

Yeh I've already done it.
this was easy coz it was second time repeating it.
the only hard thing is getting the broken bolt that's left on the mount. I had to go mechanic places to get some help. They do it for free. Heros
thnks anyway
