Hi All!
Great forum.
I have a question hoping someone can shed some light.
I have a EG6 SiR and notice when i wanted to upgrade the rear control arm that
it had a different set up and to do so i would have to change the shocks too.
Would someone explain why it is?
And the advantage or disadvantage it may have?

I havent seen aftermarket Rear LCA for EG6/DC2R

The one you have is a Ball joint based set up (JDM EG6 and DC2R) compared to the Aus spec EG's which use the fork type.

Americans also have Forks as standard on their EG's so the market for them is higher.

But if you are deciding to get those LCA you will need to change your Shocks to suit it.

Advantages? Depending on the brand, i guess stronger, lighter and more bling lol.

But honestly your stock LCA is good enough for now, unless the bushes are worn etc.

Better off getting a rear subframe bracket kit and nicer sway bar.

yep what chi said is right, your car probably has the LCA which the shock connects on the indside of the control arm (ball joint) while the other type is fork where the bottom of the shock goes around the control arm. so depending on this you will need to choose your LCA accordingly.

in that case you will have to get shocks from a DC2R. your gonna have to buy a new set of shocks dude. its straight fit front and rear so no need to worry if its not gonna fit

its at the front of the car, where the steering column is. that whole unit is called a cross member. just follow the power steering hose till it stops near the fire wall and the bottom. a brace would simply inlove mulitple bars linking together at some point. i think they are refered to as "traction bars". maybe if you look up Traction Bars on the net it should give you something:thumbsup:

The advantages of rear LCA's:
Stronger - OEM is strong enough
Lighter - Big deal
Bling - Yup that's about it
