Why do people choose to use this? Whats the advantags of using vband setup on the turbo to dump pipe?
Cheers.

Appart from the quicker accessibility than bolts.
And that it looks cool.
I think V-band connection is also more usefull in tighter radius's. Where the turbine housing is conveted to a V-band connection. You can have a tighter bend and the piping wont be in the way of accessing your bolts.
V-band much simpler/easier to connect/disconnect.
Just an overall better conection.

Its just a different type of connection/joint instead of your usual bolt connection or silicon hose & clamp connetion on your intake.
V-band clamp:

V-band flange(s):

This turbo has a V-band connection on the turbine housing - Down pipe:

Wrong pic deano, that housing is still the 4bolt housing then its to the vband.

The only problems that I have heard with V-bands for the exhaust side is how well it seals. Obvioulsy its metal on metal. But you can put sealant on there to help.

So you're saying theress been some leaking issues? It would be hard to put sealant round it since its soo thin and i dont think it would help at all.
If i was to ever turbo a honda again, it would be vband all the wayy.. the time, the hassel spent un-doing dumps to fix leaks/assembly, made me the way i am today. Crazy.

so u reckon the vband seal is better than having a flange and gasket and all that? or is the vband just easier to work with?
if u have seen a vband in action, u would understand that sealing is NOT an issue. Its superior in every single way.

the advantage of V band is its alot more eazy to remove
keep in mind that a normal 2d flange uses bolts which bolt the dump pipe into the exhaust housing
alot of times the bolts will get rusted and bolts wil snap inside the exhaust housing
with a V band flange all u need to do is undo one clamp and the flange comes apart
a V band clamp will neva rust up so u wont be stuck with any snap bolts
its alot more eazy and faster to remove which is why most race cars use them

You dont require gaskets (for sealng) with v-bands. Their origin is in aviation so i'd suggest they're far superior than the common automotive alternatives.
