Hi All

I am getting new springs/suspension for my EG and i needed some advice.

It currently has

Supension/Braking
Tein 2" Lower
King Springs

I know it is abit of a downgrade to Aussie brand, but i don't have enough $

I am thinking about getting

1inch lowered

Lovells Springs
www.lovells.com.au
$260 for all 4

KYB shocks
http://kyb.com.au/
$360 for all 4

labor = $240

Wheel alignment = $40

Total = $900

Now this are pretty much Australian brands from what i can see. My mechanic is telling me that pedders and all other spring sellers basically buy lovell and re paint them ? Is this true?

What are your guys thoughts of putting these springs in my EG. What should i look out for when buying new springs/suspension

ALSO! looking for coil overs that anyone might be selling. Please PM me the brand and price

add a few more hundreds for coilover.
the price for the labor is too expensive. most of the workshops charge around $100 to install springs and shocks.

Yup... labour is too expensive.. Dont jus use one quote price. Shop around. At 600+ of springs and shocks is not bad if u are jus after lower ht etc.

If u wanna use it for some serious/good handling, go coilovers. Spend a few more hundreds get brand new D2..(though some argue it's not gd but some think it works fine) or get second hand coilovers off reliable ppl. D2 cost about $900 off ebay and second coilovers range from 800-1200 depending on brands.

Gd luck.

not sure how much coz i am located in WA perth. If u are in perth, i can recommend u to my mechanic. If u somewhere else try asking around your friends for a gd budget mechanic. Installing springs should not be that much. At least do it under $200. Or if u have more mods coming up do all the mods together and get a discount. Shop around for mechanics.. use yellow pages, call up for quotes maybe?..

Hey VT1-R

What do you think of the B16 ?

I have a D15B series and i am thinking of upgrading.

B16 will be a good upgrade from your D15 as you feel the vtec kick in after reving from 5000+rpm to 8000.. You will intially feel like your car is like a Ferrari if you had never driven a B16 b4. haha.

I will say its a very good engine all round except for the torque factor. B16 is rather torqueless regardless what mods ppl claim they have done to the B16 to improve low end torque etc. In the end, its still consider torqueless but just not as torqueless as it used to be.

Therefore i recommend you to get the B18C off a AUDM model VTI-R integra or get a JDM integra SI-R import engine for the more budget minded way of spending your money.

It will give you 170hp from the AUDM integra and 178hp from the JDM integra, a gd jump from B16's 160hp which is still good. APART from that you get good torque and vtec will scream as hell and when u feel rich just dump in a good JUN Cams package and u ready to kill stock WRX for breakfast lunch and dinner.

If u are rich get the B18CR with 190hp or K20 with 200hp(if i am not wrong). Anyway if u are after a good little engine with gd power, B16 suit u fine. If u are hardcore and wanna build a daily/track car with good power. Start with B18C, it will give u a better head start with more potential to mod and more torque...Gd luck...

1 more suggestion, You can follow the turbo path, just like one of the guys with the blue civic with lambo doors somewhere in the forums. Go to the thread title of Turbo section " D series turbo, beware N/a Dohc.. " haha something like tat. His car is quite hot and he can give u turboing D series tips. Good luck !

Pedders are overpriced.. they even charge $140 for fr/rr alignment whereas bob jane do em for $66.

but then again if it was a simple full swap it would be easy, however winding down coils is a pain in the arse just to get the strut mounts off the old set.
