I am buying semi's real soon. Need a set of 205/50/15's. I am planning on getting the Bridgestone RE55s but they do cost an arm and a leg, so befor i spend my money i wouldn't mind knowing wat other semi's are worth a look.

Pretty much everyone says the re55s but wat about the dunlops/kuhmo/toyo's/advan - (i would like to get these as well, but no one has the size i want...)

Anyway share your experiences from the track.

Thanks people

a new set of Toyo r888 will set you back around $1000
Plenty of guys use these with success.

Some traders sell ADvan a048 for around the same price as the R888.
These are definately worth it too.

Toyo R888's get my vote..

have helped me do some good times this yr during 07' supersprints..

there good tyre.. warm up quick and last fearly long considering they are a soft compound...

i run advan a048... bloody unreal tyre very happy with them but i havnt been able to compare to the r888 or bridge stone.

From the research i have done the a048 had harder side walls then the r888... and the toyo is a softer compound rubber. R888 is however cheaper then the a048.

Anyone please correct me if not

I had the older Bridgstones (RE540s) on my 205 and they were unreal. Helped me achieve 1:20's around Wakefield in my dead stock car. And from all reports the 55s are as good.

55's are actually better. Had the 540's on our track WRX/STI TypeR before the 55's came along. Both great but the 55's a definite improvement. Achieved 1:36 at Winton Aug 07.

I havn't used Bridgestone RE540's yet but all reports that i have heard about them have been good. One tyre i can recommend to you is the Kuhmo V700's. They are a very soft tyre though, i used them at the last round of my local hill climb and dropped 2.5sec's on a 55sec lap track (with the help of a few improvements to the car as well). i found the tyres very very grippy, if you look into them get some prices for the medium compound and harder compound kuhmo's if you are going to use them on a circuit for more than 3 laps at a time.

i aggree they are good. i used them as my daily and they go decent even when not warmed fully. 50 wear tread rating. give it a shot mike you never know. they are better semi's but at how much with what price ? the difference might be few KM/hr and 0.05 lateral G's more. not many of us can reach those peaks on those tyres. maybe you can?

anyways i think these are probably bang for buck

Will decide depending on how much dollars i have when the next track day comes. Got the rims, so yeah all i need is tyres.
