First time poster , hopefully not my last. I have just recently purchased a Honda CRV (2002) and have been given a list of recommendations & cost after the 90,000 service.

timing belt $450.00
air filter $60.00
auto trans oil change $120.00
rear diff service $95.00
rear trailing arm bushes $550.00

all prices exclude GST

As this was my first Honda Service I was wondering if these prices seem reasonable and if not does anyone have a good and reliable alternative mechanic in the inner city Melbourne (collingwood area).

thanks

Best thing to do is to ring a number of dealers and ask them for a quote including what they do in their service.

The other option as mentioned is that there are a few good private mechanics in your area that could do a service as well.

mate i went threw the same thing and what i done was to buy the parts like timing belt ,air filter ,and in your case the bushes ,,,it cost me less than half of what you have been quoted ,and you can buy all them aftermarket ,,i get all my gear at bursons ,i dont know if you have these guys but there good ,i do my own work but ide say if you bought the filter etc you would save at least a quarter of that ,,,,,

2002 CR-Vs dont have a timing belt.
It was the first year they had a chain. We were dreading that too, as we bought our CRV with 95ooo on it

Heres a pic of my invoice for my 100,ooo:

The 2.0L CRV has a timing belt. The 2.4L CRV has a timing chain.

+ the later model CRV doesnt have the same trailing arm set up in the suspension, were the bushes split.
