Hey guys,

I am looking for rims at the moment and cant decide between 17" or 16". If anybody has a pic of their dc2 with 16" rims on it I would love to see em, and if anybody has 16" buddy club p1's that would be even better.

Cheers,
Javed

It depends what your looking to get out of the rims. If you want performance more than looks, then 16's is best. And you want more show style and fatter look then 17's is way to go.
By the way the difference in performance is so small bettween stock 15's to 17's. I had ITR stockies on and went to 17's DC5 JDM rims with Toyos and is much better all around.

Much better in wat way may i ask ?
coz i always thought 17" is a no no for dc2 :o

On track you will find that 16's are optimal for DC2's, personaly i like 17's because they look better and you "can" get better tracktion all around.
I can agree that 17's for DC2 is a no no, but if you upgrade your camber and/or bushes then its ok and in no way dangerous.

Sharik, I believe Javed owns a GSi, much different to your DC2R. :)
I bought my GSi with incredibly heavy (and ugly :)) 17" ROH rims on her. When I downsized to a set of OEM DC2 VTiR alloys (15"), the overall performance (torque, throttle response, brake response, handling...) increase was extremely noticeable IMO.
Perhaps the JDM DC5 rims you have on are quite lightweight due to the fact they are OEM items?

Javed, throw a set of BC P1s on...16" in the Gunmetal Ti colour...hehe :)

Not sure weather Javed is after performance with his Gsi?
I figured people with Vtir's focus more on speed and race handling..
If you are only going for looks then bigger the better :D

These are 18" Starcorp Concept 9's in shadow chrome on my Gsi. Fits fine after you get your guards rolled.
Hope it helps...

Is that a 94+ DC4 5poon? Hmm..looks quite alike to mine. Hope to catch you at a meet sometime.

Meanwhile, something tells me young Javed is after some looks, but mainly performance. :)

lol jone are you a psychic or something lol? hit the nail on the head, i want some looks but i dont wanna slow down my poor lil gsi any more, it would be a waste to throw on my jdm headers and dc2r catback and spoon axleback then weigh her down with wheels. The stereo has weighed her down enough already me thinks. Yeah i think i am keen on gunmetal 16" P1's, something about the P1's is just so damn sexy! :P

Jon, tis a DC4 95 Gsi. Will be at the next meet :D
EG, that pic was with kmac springs which dumped my ride about 3 1/4"(had me riding my bumpstops.) Have since changed to Kings which is sitting closer to 2 1/2"s down.
Shocks are still stock but will change those in a few months.

Ultimate rim size for dc2r, 15x7.
I had 17's on my GSI with 215/40/17 no problems..
Although having said that, I got 16x7 on my DC2R at the moment..

why not consider 15"s?

i have tried 17", 16",15" and..... omg... 14" (yep, 14"s fit on the ITR)
i like the 15"s the best, considering hondas dont have as much power as turbo's. a light set of mags is going to make the car feel a lot different.

volk ce28 copies, not as light as the real thing, but they still come in ~7kg without the tyre

I have to agree with you on that one flyryd :D

I've got a set of 15" Forged Volks on my dc2r.
Not only do they look good and set a 'racey' image to the car
But the car aswell goes that little bit quicker and has more responsive handling chracteristics. :D

Javed if your looking for lightweight rims, just jap have got a set of 16x7 volk te37s for sale here at just jap - http://www.justjap.com/Welcome_Page.htm - look in 'arriving soon'
(not sure where you live and I dont know how you would feel about buying rims interstate if not in syd)

Javed

bit outside my budget :(

wouldn't buddy clubs also be out of your budget then? I think they are around $1300 without tyres for 16x7.

What other rims are you looking at? im getting 16s for my teg and a little stuck on ideas

here are some more pics of integras with rims:

G'day

16" Sparco mags ;) i dont mind them they came with the car.

I like 16" because its a bit of a comprismise, 17" obviously looks good but i reckon only if you lower the car. Otherwise it just looks like its in stilts ;)

As for 15" ... bit too small for my liking.

anyways, hope this helps!

Hit a decent size pothole a few weeks ago and I was SOOO glad I went for 16's instead of 17's... with 35 or 40 profile tyres I think I could've been looking at a damaged rim.

Oh and car was more lively with 15's than my p1s too. 0.6kg/rim does make a noticeable difference down low when you've only got 1.8litres of NA torque.

NA = not applicable? ;)

OT: you know which potholes I hate? the ones on elgar road heading down towards box hill, just outside the tafe. Its like the tax man coming to rape you cause you know its coming and you just can't avoid it (if theres traffic beside you).
