hey i have a jdm vtir prelude, its a gen 4, im looking into getting a tune as i already have a intake, and looking at getting a good set of headers if needed, and a exhaust however i am not sure what size to go, thinking 2.25 cat back with 1 muffler, as i dont really want to go bigger then 2.25 as i have heard i will loose mid range power, is this true?
also not sure what headers to go, been told i should stick with the jdm headers, i am not looking at moding my engine anymore then intake, exhaust, and tune........thinking of going a hondata, any recomendations on this?

thanks, help would be highly appreciated,

cheers

i wreckon you should chase 4-1 headers; stay away from those carb-legal 4-2-1 headers as they're not as effective as 4-1. if u go the 4-2-1 way then get a custom collector done.

in terms of exhaust size, 2.25" is ok. personally i'd go for 2.5". get mandrel bent over press bent. go stainless steel if u care about weight. but yeah go 2.5" not 2.25" ..its not a 1.6L engine.

in terms of tuning, hondata is pretty pricey. maybe a VAFC would do it because ur not looking to modify more. but than again a VAFC is limited so maybe a s100 hondata would do the job.

thanks heaps mate, what do you recon of the stock jdm headers? worth keeping? and also do you have any idea how much a s100 would cost tuned? or a vafc would cost tuned?

tune on a vafc. its fairly cheap and convenient. plus many tuners are familiar with it

if u want hondata, u have to swap to a USDM ecu as i've been told. vafc do get pretty good gains. generally 7kw or more

nah dont keep ur stock jdm headers.

look on honda-tech.com.au for hondata prices.

imo , don't go 2.5 inch.
u'll lose too much bottom end power, on a stock car. 2.25 would be best for drivability i think. otherwise a 2.38 is a good size for engine with bolt ons ie header and intake, along with tune.

jdm headers are decent. but u will see gains even with xforce headers, no tune.
