Hi Guys,
I have an 87 CRX and after about 20-30 mins of driving or when i hit heavy traffic i will pull up to a set of lights and then the revs just drop to 0. It doesn't stall straight away it just sits there struggling or if i blip the throtle nothing happens. Once i turn it off or it stalls i wait 10-15 mins and start it up and it seems to run fine again?. I have been told that it could be the distibutor because everything else electricaly seems fine. Has anyone else had this problem happen to them?

have you checked the ecu for codes

could be in the dizzy, or the leads. does it miss under load ??

It isn't giving me any codes and when it stalls its not giving me an engine warning light. I guess it could be the leads aswell as the distributor. How much would a "dizzy" set me back?

Oh yeah it doesn't miss under load it seems to start playing up once i've had to come to a stop and then just doesn't recover.

Could it be a problem with air flow John?
Im unsure, just sounds similar to a prob i used to have on an old commodore. The air flow meter was the whole problem. Im not sure but i thought id throw this comment in although it could be unrelated..

MAP sensor?

Could be a problem with your idle motor? or something else that controls the idle

Sounds like it possibley might be an ignitor coil in the dizzy.

i had the same problem with my EJ8 a while back fuel filter but of course mechanic did the IACV first and then discovered it wasnt that at all...............

I am currently suffering a similar problem with my 90 ED sedan changing the fuel filter seemed to help (less frequent) but still does it hve to sit at the lights with foot on brake and accelerator i was told might be a dizzy problem to still investigating it

the issue sounds like your MAIN RELAY , located under the dash on the drivers side.

If your engine light is coming on...

-Rip up the carpet where the passenger footwell is.
-There u will see a plate covering over ur ECU.
- No need to take the plate off as there is a tiny window which shows the flashes coming from your ECU.

Count the flashes..
1 Long Flash represent 10
1 short flash resprent 1

so 1 long flash and 3 short flashes afterwards would mean 13.

Each series of flashes is a sort of code to represent something.
