Hey guys,

I recently regased my air con and got my bearings replaced. Everything worked fine after 2 - 3 weeks. After that the air got hotter and hotter and the air con fan just suddenly stopped working. My car uses the R12 Gas. Does anyone know any mechanics that can do this job to check for leaks and to refill?

Thanks!

moved to technical since this isn't integra specific.

Where are you located?

Any automotive airconditioning specialists will be able to check for you. What they do is they add a dye to the gas and then where they find the dye colour along the aircon pipes and it's accessories will be where the leak/s are coming from. But it definitely sounds like you have a leak in the system...

The other way i did this was i brought the O rings, which were like a few dolloars a a few of them and replaced all the O rings first. Then took it to get checked and regased. In the end they only had to replace one seal, and all the other O rings i knew were at least new and would not leak in future.

The O rings are cheap, your biggest cost in getting someone else to do them all is labour. They are really easy to replace.

if you got your a/c re gased and it is blowing hot air usually means there is a leak in the system (gas has escaped)

go to a a/c specialist to get it dye checked

what suburb you in?

cheap?? are you looking to get your a/c running? seems like you would rather go around in circles and get dodgy fixes again and again. You should really do a retro fit and change it from r12 to r134a as its safer for the environment. They should not keep refilling the gas if there is a leak as it would just leak out again.

Most places won't refill R12 anymore.

kindra: What do you mean by "the air con fan just suddenly stopped working" exactly?

The blower fan (fan that comes from interior vents) stopped working or the A/C condenser fan stopped working?

The condenser fan usually only runs when its hot or more load is put on the a/c compressor (when colder air is required).

The A/C Compressor usually will not engage at all if the gas level is too high or too low.

If you get an A/C service (gas and dye refill) and a leak is suspected they should've made another booking for you to go back in a week or 2 to check for leaks while the dye is perfectly visible (before it all leaks out again and washes away).

I live in Dandenong but im willing to go anywhere to get it done. I think its called the air condenser fan has stop spinning. Its where all the air con pipes connect to. And where are the O rings? i havent seen it on my car yet. Could you please describe them for me? thanks

Check if the condensor fan is getting power etc - check the relay for the fan and check all connections and power to the compressor. A good indication of low gas level is a slight hissing sound coming from the interior vents.

I wouldn't go jumping in and just replacing the sealing rings on the a/c lines unless you're positive (after a proper a/c dye leak check) they are the cause of the leak. Regardless, the a/c gas should be removed from the system before working on it (removing lines etc) as the gas is 'ozone depleting'.

Go and get a leak check done!

O rings are in the joins of each piping of the a/c.
A new retorfit costs about $200 and they usually add the oil in and then you pay for the gas. The retrofit is just 2 adapter adjustments to enable it to link onto the new system. If you watch them that's all they usually do.
