well guys i have a problem im running 205/45/17 on my ej8 civic and am scuffing fairly bad only at full lock on the inside of the wheel arch so bad its waring my tyres out and im aware that some of this will be due to camber but from the outside the tyres have about 80% tread and from the inside the wall is worn away and also about an inch onto the tyre is back to wire :S. wat can i do will an alignment fix the problem or do i need to go to a 195(which i would say will require new rims and the sale of my 6 identical old ones).
Cheers

What offset are your rims?

No offence but kudos to you for posting in the reight section...BUT...

Showing us a photo of your rim is not going to tell us the offset of the wheel..

Look behind the rim and look for a number with with the "+" on it....

check to see if your TOE is out. if it is and you havnent had a wheel alignment this will be your main tyre eater. toe kills tyres much quicker than camber. i remember when i had bad toe on my car and my tyres were gone in a few months, got it fixed now and the tyre wear is much more even now :)

as for scrubbing look at the offset of your wheel, but 205/40/17 should be alright for 17s, have alook at maybe a 40s rather than 45 profile?

Good point
EJ8 comes with 185/60 R14 stock, so they should use 205/35 R17 to stay legal. 205/40 R17 is pushing it as the overall diameter is increased by 18.2mm, which is above the limit of 15mm to stay legal.

205/35R17? would be a very rare size indeed if anyone makes such size.

Yokohama do make a 195/40R17 S drive and sell them in SE Asian markets but I doubt if they have brought in such size for the Aust market as yet. CSC2 and P zero Nero has this size too for the US market.

May be enquire with Yokohama Aust ( and not a tyre shop ) and see if they are planning to bring in such size in the near future as they have a many new sizes coming.

For tyres that easily available, I guess he has to go for 205/40 R17.
