i need to disconnect my battery because it needs replacing, my car is a 96 civic vti ej8 with an apexi neo piggyback ecu thats been profesionally tuned, if i disconnect the battery will it cause problems with my stock computer and my neo?

i doubt it would.

the makers of the piggyback have definately built an internal memory in the ecu just incase the battery does die, they kno people make mistakes by leaving lights on / change batteries so they must have a backup for times like that.

I rekon wait for a tuner to anser the question, it does tickle my curiosity too.

welll when disconnecting battery always disconnect negative then positive.

if your battery needs changing that means that it has probably died in the past?
so if it still runs fine i dun see a problem y it might need re tuning.

unsure if this will help
but i disconnected my battery over the weekend and once i connected my battery up again, i noticed that all my settings on my cd player reset.
Unsure if this answers your question, but i thought i'd post

most apexi rsm products have a short term memory back up battery/capacitor. 24hrs without a battery should be fine. i wouldnt leave it for much longer than that.

The Neo has an EPROM in it that will last a fair amount of time (I'm talking in terms of years) when you cut power to it so there is no worry of you losing your tune.

As for the car's ECU, it will self learn again after you connect the battery back to the car...

If your that worried go purchase one of those memory savers...
Its a thing that you plug into your cigarette lighter and it is battery operated and can remember all your settings.

Alot of dealerships use them so they dont wipe customers radio codes etc..

I dont see an issue though with you d/c your battery. As mentioned above, negative first, positive second. This is incase you accidentally short the terminal to the vehicle body or anywhere else, it wont matter.. connecting the positve terminal to the body would create a short if the negative is connected.

Reconnecting is in reverse, positive first.

Mmmm - if your really reallly worieeed ....

u can always use jumpers to change batteries widout losin power to the car ....

connect he new batter y to your cables wid d jumpers ... n then disconnect the old battery n, place d new battery n connect your new battery to the car cables .... n disconnect jumpers ....

ive done that before, for different reasons tho ...

good luck
