View Full Version : [BNE] Light dent help anyone?
So I went to another outdoor dance party.. camped in my car for a couple of days. Discovered just before coming back that the driver side panel above the wheel of my black 00 EK1 hatch had a dent in it. It looks like it's just popped in and I wish I could just pop it out again, but I'm guessing knowing my luck it's probably more work than that.
Think someone leaned on my car a bit too hard or something, can't see any abrased marks or scratches there.
Has this happened to anyone before and anybody have experience fixing it up? Bit poor at the moment.. I hope it's not a terribly expensive repair.. :(
Will post a picture when I can.

try using a small plunger.
lol i put a big dent in my quarter panel, and i managed to pull out about 70% of it haha worked pretty good.
i told a friend of mine the method that i used and he asked to borrow my plunger to use on a small golf ball sized dent on his front gaurd, and with a few pumps his dent was gone!
lol but seriously why not give it a try?

Try calling the paintless dent removers. I have heard wonderful things about these guys. They use a device similar to a plunger, but a bit less risky lol. I'd imagine if its only a dent, it will probably cost less than $150 to repair but you had best call those guys for a more reliable quote.
Best of luck mate.

lmfao dont doubt the capability of the plunger!
$4 plunger > $150 someone that uses a plunger like toOl
haha if you do it properly it wont cause any further damage.
the method i used is get complete suction over the dent and pull lightly yet fast a few times without removing the plunger from the surface.

hold on its in my boOt i'll go check
5 1/2" sink pump
Hey thanks for the input guys. I tried a small plunger, but because it was close to the folded contour line, the plunger didn't stick. I then used one of those small suction cups (less than 2" diameter) I found in my bathroom for holding things to the wall and a pair of pliers, and I managed to get the biggest part of the dent out again! The part near the contour line is still sunken in slightly, and I just know if I could get the front panel off and maybe massage the underside with a tennis ball or something I could get it back to normal.. or close anyway.
Anyone taken off the front panel before? the one above the wheel arch.. any instructions anywhere and is it very involved?
Thanks all. you guys rock!
remove front panel requires a 10mm socket/ratchet/spanner/ phillips head screw driver
open bonnet, remove clips on the grill and bar
remove 2 x10mm bolts under neather your front bar
remove 2 screws where the bumper connects to the fender
remove front bar from car
remove side skirt, side has 3x screws
then open your door, and where the A pillar meets the fender, you will see another 10mm bolt. remove that
underneath where the sideskirt hids the fender bolts, you need to remove those 2 aswell
once all bolts are removed, slowly remove your fender, and reach your arm inbetween to dismantle the indicator bulb..
after y ou finsih what you're doing, re-assemble your car with the same steps going backwards ofcourse..

where in brissy are you? i know a dent guy that is very good and does good prices for myself and friends
Hi there! Just a couple of suburbs from the CBD. Kelvin Grove to be exact. What's a good price for a light dent? I've been working at it with the little suction cup and it's looking so much better, but can still tell it has a tiny dent there.. Most people wouldn't think much of it, but you know when you feel sorry for your baby lol

I know what your saying the first time i called this guy out i was like damn this is bad. But the guy told me while he fixed it to go around and find any more dents that i wanted removed.
In the end he fixed 12 pretty petty dent but still they were dents and he only charged me $80 since then he has charged me even less but says "dont tell anyone about those times.
he has also come over to fix a friends car but because he couldnt totally remove it he didnt charge anything. but we were chuffed because it looked a lot better than it was.
also some dent's cant be totally removed without panel beating and paint
wow.. that's pretty good. This one looks like it's fixable I think, I haven't yet tried to take the front panel off and work it from the inside, but I think it just needs a bit of a massage. If I showed it to you now you'd probably laugh cos it's a lot better than it was when I first posted. Wanna meet up some time if you want to take a look? Haven't got much planned for today apart from going to get petrol.. tank's empty and today's cheap Tuesday (well.. not so cheap anymore.. :()
