Hey guys i own a cxi which comes without the taco, i would like to know if its possible to replace it with a gli dash so that i have the taco in the dash and it remains looking clean. Can i do this?

If i can does this mean i have to get the whole gli dash (from drivers side to passenger side) or what do i have to buy to replace it?

Thanks, Chris.

just change the cluster to either a gli, vtir or type R one

afaik you will just need the cluster from a gli which then, is just a matter taking out your cxi one and plugging in your gli one.

the clusters mentioned already have the taco in them, so yes it is just a matter of removign your stock cluster and putting in the new cluster. plug n play :)

So i should just goto the wreckers and ask for a gli or vtir 'cluster'

ask for a gli cluster, as gli's and cxi's have the same redline..
if you get a vtir or a type r, you'll have a higher redline than what your engine is capable of..

oh ok cool, will i need to purchase a wire so that i can hook the taco up or does my cxi have one, its just not in use?

There is no need to purchase anything but the cluster. The existing wires plug straight in and it all works.

im not the only one having trouble with the low fuel light. i beleive it isnt plug and play! low fuel light doesnt work on mine that was worded slightly wrong but is it spose to engage when the needle is on the white line or the red line?

all i wanna no is the low fuel light spose to work when you do a cluster conversion on a CXI?

doing a cluster change on your CXI would be no different to people doing one on their dc2's or what not. and yes it will work.

the low fuel light will activate when you're low on fuel...hell my car has been slightly past the empty line before it comes up...

awesome some good info here...

i was just about to buy a tacho to place on top of the dash for my CXI now i will just ask a wreckers.... but then again if u know how to drive a manual u dont need a tacho :)

Gio
24-11-2007, 05:53 PM
:) a tacho is good manual or not but i see more use for one if the car is a manual, u know how hard ur flogging it imo

Jord
24-11-2007, 08:21 PM

tacho is boring..
bcoz i dont race and shit on the streets.. i never even rev above 3000
usually change gears by the time i rev up to 3000
tacho is pointless for the average daily driver.
